Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has described the death of former head of the defunct Interim National Government, Chief Ernest Shonekan, as a colossal loss to Ogun State and Nigeria in general.

In a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Kunle Somorin, Governor Abiodun
said the deceased
was a true Nigerian who spent most of his life for the betterment of the country.

He expressed grief that Chief Shonekan, passed on at a period Nigeria needed his experience most as a technocrat.

Governor Abiodun pointed out that Chief Shonekan would be sorely missed, adding that his death would create a huge vacuum in Nigeria, and Egbaland.

While praying for the repose of the deceased’s soul,
Governor Abiodun also prayed that God would comfort his immediate family and the Egba Traditional Council.
