Police in Oyo state have arrested eleven suspects in connection to incessant kidnapping at onigaari area on Lagos Ibadan expressway.
Commissioner of Police in Oyo state, Mrs Ngozi Onadeko made this known while parading the suspects alongside other twenty one suspected criminals who were arrested for various offences.
The suspects are Bashiru Abubakar, Babuga Umaru and Habu Kosoko, Adamu Abdullahi, Umar Faruq, Sanda Bawu, Abubakar Siddiku, Haruka Musa And Aliyu Abubakar, Tambaya Shehu, Aliya Umaru and Isiaka Ibrahim.
The Commissioner explained that in a swift response to the evolving trends of crimes particularly robbery, ritual killings and highways abduction, the Command has redefined its operational and tactical architecture towards achieving a peaceful atmosphere.
Mrs Onadeko stated further that the architecture included amplified convoy patrols, highway visibility policing and patrols.She reaffirmed the command’s assurances of sustained levels of tranquility in the State.
The police boss in Oyo state therefore called for the cooperation of members of the public through intelligence sharing to rid the state off crime and criminality.
The Commissioner noted that the suspects would soon be charged to court after proper investigations.
The paraded suspected criminals who confessed to the crime levelled against them pleaded for leniency.
One the victims who pleaded anonymity said he sustained a gun shot while dragging with the suspected kidnappers as they disguised as security personnel.
He noted that despite the plea from him and his family, the suspected kidnappers collected over two million ransom before he was released.
