Ogo Oluwa Community Primary School, Oda Road Akure, Ondo State has become a shadow of itself due to the poor state of infrastructure in the school.

Radio Nigeria correspondent Olufisoye Adenitan, who was in the school reports that nearly all the roofs of the classes already had caved in and all the floors were cracked as well as the windows were pulled off by winds.

It was also observed that the classes lack tables and chairs for learning as many of the children sit on the floor during classes.

Similarly, the room of the staff room of the school is also leaking with some teachers saying it was more challenging, especially during rainy seasons.

The school which has over 100 pupils from primary one to six has allegedly been abandoned by the government since there was no presence of development including the facilities for teachers to carry out their duties well.

The PTA chairman of the school, Elder Ajayi Ademola who was on the ground during the unscheduled visit lamented that the poor infrastructure in the school was hindering the teaching and learning process.

Elder Ademola said the parents association most times is always responsible for the purchase of facilities like chalks, chairs, and other learning tools for the pupils.

Some of the teachers who spoke under the condition of anonymity said the school had been abandoned for years without any development and concern for the plight of the children attending the school.

They said poor infrastructure was responsible for the reduction in the number of pupils attending the school appealing to the government to revisit public schools in Ondo State before they go into extinction.
