Political parties have been advised to be transparent and follow the dictates of the electoral act in the picking of flag bearers for the general elections.

A Human Rights lawyer, Mr Niyi Aborisade gave the advice while featuring on a Radio Nigeria political programme tagged Political Space.

Mr Aborisade who is a House of Representatives aspirant for Ibadan Northeast/Southeast Federal Constituency seat on the platform of the Peoples’ Democratic Party, PDP, said any political party that failed to follow democratic and electoral principles might run afoul of the law.

He urged the PDP in Oyo State to allow all aspirants go for indirect primaries which will allow them test their popularity instead of the consensus arrangements which he said was tantamount to imposition.

Mr Aborisade cautioned electorate against selling their votes during elections, describing it as a means of mortgaging the future and development of the country.
