The Independent National Electoral Commission Officials this Week Tuesday held an enlightenment meeting with stakeholders in Ibadan/Ibarapa zone at Eruwa Town Hall in Ibarapa East LG of the state.

The meeting which was organized and directed by Oyo State Resident Electorial Commissioner, REC, Dr Mutiu Agboke was attended by various Political leaders, the Royal Fathers, Community leaders and concerned citizens of Ibadan Ibarapa area.

In his opening address, Mr Olufemi Onaniyi the Electoral Officer representing Ibadan North East LG expressed the purpose of the meeting, that every one in attendance should go home and enlighten his neighbours about the importance of PVC, that without it no electorate can cast vote on election days.

He added that every registered voter should endeavor to go and collect his/her PVC in their LG INEC Office.

He said in Ibadan North East for example, about 46,257 PVC in the office uncollected.

In his speech, the Oyo State Resident Electorial Commissioner, Dr Mutiu Agboke stated that there are about twenty two Registered Political Parties in Nigeria, and no one is more important than the other, and all shall be equally treated, that there is neither major nor minor party.

Dr Agboke encouraged the Political leaders to educate their followers to do away with thuggery and hooliganism before during and after the election.

He mentioned that INEC has scientifically advanced and there is no room for manipulation or fabrication of figures.

He added that with the newly introduced BIVAS machine that shall be used for accreditation, finger printing and face photographs of voters, all irregularities shall be quickly defected.

That no man can vote twice, it shall be One man One vote.

He enjoined the Political leaders to take campaign strategies seriously rather than buying of votes from electorates That any politician caught buying votes shall be legally sanctioned.

In his response the Olu of Igboora Oba Olajide Titiloye speaking on behalf of other Royal fathers and Community leaders, he implored the Political leaders to adhere strictly to the INEC regulations.

He also promised the REC in disseminating the information to other Baales, Chiefs and Compound Heads across Ibarapa land.
