Nigeria Association of Women Journalists, NAWOJ, Oyo State Chapter has condemned the rẹoccurence of girl child harassment and sexual molestation at the Federal Government Girls college Owinni in Oyo State.

Chairperson of Oyo NAWOJ, Mrs Jádesola Ajibola gave the Condemnation at a news conference held at NUJ press centre, Iyaganku Ibadan following an allegation of girl child molestation reported by a group of concerned parents of the school.

Mrs Ajibola explained that many girls had reportedly been abused by their male teachers and guardians in the school .
She noted that the management of the school had refused to swing into action regarding the issue.

She, however, urged Oyo State Police Command to speed up investigation and prosecute the accused person who is the teacher before a court of competent jurisdiction within the state without delay.

The Oyo NAWOJ Chairperson wanted the registrar of teachers Registration council of Nigeria, professor Segun Ajiboye to investigate the attitude of deregistered teachers in the country.

Chairman, Oyo State Ministry of women Affairs Rapid team on gender based violence, Mr Marcus Williams affirmed that justice would prevail on the perpetrators to serve as deterrent.

Two concerned parents , Mr Adebayo Adewale and Mrs Nancy Faniyan appealed to relavant authorities to help in putting a stop to this evil acts and demanded for proper justice on the perpetrators.
