The Ogun State Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development has urged residents to uphold the state’s master plan by verifying the layout of their buildings before applying for the Certificates of Occupancy, C-of-O.

The Commissioner in charge of the Ministry, Mr Olatunji Odunlami made the call in Abeokuta while addressing a group of post-graduate students from the Centre for Planning Studies, Lagos State University.

Mr Odunlami, who noted that many challenges to land use and development would be averted if the people erected their buildings according to the state’s master plan, said the Ministry was working in line with the Ogun Regional Plan of 2005-2025, scheduled to be reviewed soon.

The Commissioner, while soliciting the people’s support to promote well-controlled, functional, and holistic physical development plans, also encouraged tertiary institutions to direct their research toward creating sustainable future cities in collaboration with the government.

Responding on behalf of the post-graduate students, Dr. Ade Adebayo commended the positive change in the policy direction of the Ministry and expressed the hope that the efforts would enhance appreciable development.
