Members of Nigeria Union of Pensioners, NUP, Oyo state chapter, have resolved to join the health insurance scheme of Oyo State Health Insurance Agency, OYSHIA.

The retirees made this known on Thursday during a congress held at NUP House, Agbarigo Onireke Ibadan.

Earlier, the Executive Secretary, Oyo State Health Insurance Agency (OYSHIA), Dr. Olusola Akande had enjoined the Pensioners who are earning less than five thousand naira to register for the scheme.

Dr Akande said, the beneficiaries of the scheme would be given fifty percent deductions on purchase of drugs and other health facilities.

Responding, the State Secretary of NUP, Oyo State Chapter, Comrade Olusegun Abatan, encouraged Pensioners to key into the scheme and the Union would seek their consent before deducting the subsidized fees from their monthly pensions.

Some of the Retirees said they were already benefitting from the scheme.
