Thirteen Ilesha-bound travellers have been rescued from kidnappers in Osun State by police and hunters.

The passengers were abducted on Sunday by gunmen posing as passengers.

Speaking with newsmen, one of the passengers, who did not want her name mentioned said midway into the journey, three out of five all-men passengers in the back seat told the driver to stop the vehicle because they wanted to ease themselves.

She explained that after the driver obliged them, they asked other passengers in the bus to come down at gunpoint and told them to move into the bush.

According to her, she was on phone with her dad a few minutes before the incident and left the line open so he could know they were in danger.

She noted that the abductors who were in the process of collecting their valuables suddenly heard a police siren and fled into the bush living their captives behind.

Confirming the incident, the spokesperson of the Osun State Police Command, Mrs Yemisi Opalola explained that the passengers were rescued by hunters and the police following a distress call.
