Olu of Ilaro and Paramount Ruler of Yewaland, Oba Kehinde Olugbenle has called on Ogun State Government to take advantage of the abundance of crude oil in Tongeji Island towards making Ogun an oil-producing state.

Oba Olugbenle, who made the call at Ilaro during a town hall meeting on the 2023-2025 Medium Term Expenditure Framework and 2023 Budget for Yewa/Awori Division, said this was necessary to promote overall development across the state.

While appealing to the government to pay attention to Ipokia-Idi-Iroko, Imeko-Ijoun and Rounda-Ayetoro-Imeko roads, Oba Olugbenle, urged the state government to expedite work on  Imasayi-Igan- Okoto-Ayetoro road.

Responding, Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun said that with over 400 foreign and local industries in Ogun West Senatorial District, his administration would give priority to road construction in the area.

Governor Abiodun acknowledged the deplorable condition of the roads in Ogun West Senatorial District and pleaded for patience as his administration was working to address the situation.

The Governor, who also explained that his administration had renovated about 200 classrooms in five local government areas in the Senatorial District, said construction of housing estates had also commenced in Ilaro and Ayetoro.

While saying that all observations and suggestions at the meeting would be considered and incorporated into the 2023-2025 and next year’s Appropriation Bill, Governor Abiodun pointed out that his administration had taken steps to block leakage and boost Internally-Generated Revenue.
