Proprietors and training instructors of driving schools in Nigeria have a significant role to play in road crash reduction through quality instructions to would-be drivers.

The Acting Corps Marshal, Federal Road Safety Corps, Dauda Ali Biu stated this at the 2022 Annual Capacity Building Workshop for Proprietors and Instructors of Driving  Schools in Nigeria held at Federal Cooperatives College, Eleyele  Ibadan.

Ali Biu, represented by the Oyo State Sector Commander, Corps Commander Joshua Adekanye, said the training was aimed at producing competent drivers in the country with an appreciable road safety mindset towards the realization of the Corps vision zero.

Speaking on the theme “Improving the Efficiency of Driving Schools in Curtailing Road Traffic Crashes”, Corps Commander Adekanye explained that since the inception of driving schools, road crashes had drastically reduced due to competent drivers.

The Oyo State Sector Commander noted that efforts are in top gear to ensure the free flow of traffic and reduce the rate of road crashes ahead of the festive period in the state.

He enjoined the drivers to desist from Overloading and overspeeding 

Also, speaking at the event, the Director, Oyo State Board of Internal Revenue, Mr Olayiwola T.G affirmed that driving schools operating had boosted the revenue generation in the state.

Two participants at the training, Pastor Olúwasina Joshua and Mr Kunle commended the organizers, adding that it would create more competent drivers and reduce road accidents on roads.

Participants from Oyo, Ondo, Osun and Kwara states attended the workshop.
