2023: Promote good governance – NYSC Tells Corps Members

Ahead of the 2023 general election, the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC has advised corps members who will participate in the poll to be guided by good conscience, the training received during their orientation course and the relevant laws of the land towards ensuring credible exercise.

The Osun State Coordinator of the NYSC, Mrs Abduwahab Olayinka gave the admonition during the official closing ceremony of the 2022 Batch C, stream I orientation course at the scheme permanent Camp Ede.
Mrs Abduwahab told the corps members that they had moral obligation to promote good governance and deepen Nigeria’s democracy by being diligent and honest in their conduct as presiding officers and in other areas they would be assigned during the election.

“Avoid inducement of any form as the people have faith in you as ambassadors of the scheme and the nation to ensure a credible election I enjoin you to participate actively in INEC training so as to be well equipped to carry out your task as presiding officers and assistant presiding officers.”
She charged them to discharge their duties at their places of primary assignment with the utmost sense of duty and be committed to the ethics of the organization they are posted to.

“Ensure you discharge your duties at your places of primary assignment with utmost sense of duty and be committed to the ethics of the organisation you are listed to”.
The Osun NYSC coordinator also asked them to focus more on what they could give to better the lives of the people of their host communities.

“The people of your host communities have been awaiting your coming, having seen what your predecessors have achieved, they look forward to having you around them knowing well that you have the wherewithal to impart them positively.
“Do not be a truant and avoid getting late to your PPAs. I urge you as an individual to identify a felt need in your community and mobilise to meet that need.”
Some of the corp members who spoke to Radio Nigeria, including Miss Blessing Omane and Mr Idris Jimoh promised to give their best to the service of their fatherland.
