Oyo State Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde has signed into law a bill to upgrade Emmanuel Alayande College of Education, Oyo  to a university status.

Signing the bill into law at the Executive Chamber, Governor’s Office, Governor Makinde said education remained one of the cardinal agenda of his administration as contained in his Roadmap for Accelerated Development 2019-2023.

The governor said when the university is finally approved by the National University Commission, NUC, the Emmanuel Alayande University would be empowered by law to award degrees,diploma and other certificates.

While commending the efforts of the state House of Assembly for the timely and successful passage of the bill, Governor Makinde assured that  necessary documents has been put in place and sent to the appropriate quarters.

In his remarks, the Speaker, Oyo State House of Assembly, Adebo Ogundoyin lauded Governor Seyi Makinde on the epoch making event, adding that his administration has recorded various achievements in the education sector.

With this development,the number of state owned universities in the state is now three.
