The commissioner for Education in Oyo state,Mr Abiodun Abdul -Raheem has described the meeting between the management of the Polytechnic Ibadan and students as successful following the protest embarked upon by the students to press home their demands on issues affecting them.

Speaking with newsmen after a meeting held at the Ministry of Education, Mr Abdul -Raheem explained the protest was unnecessary saying that it was due to a communication gap between the parties involved.

The commissioner said the institution’s exam which was put on hold due to the protest would commence as soon as possible pointing out that the government has resolved the issues raised by the students amicably.

In an interview, the president of the Student Union Government of the Polytechnic, Ibadan, Mr Okikiola Joshua was optimistic that there was work in progress on demands raised by the students on the part of the government.

Mr Okikiola Joshua however maintained that the student union would ensure that government implement the demands as promised without delay.

The SUG president of the Polytechnic Ibadan who highlighted their agitations to include inadequate infrastructures, said the challenges needed the attention of the government as soon as possible, to be put in its policies, including reduction of school fees and manpower.

It would be recalled that, students of the polytechnic Ibadan had protested to the Agodi Secretariat to express their agitations on matters affecting them.
