People of Ogun State have witnessed the landing of the first commercial flight at the Gateway Agro-Cargo Airport, located in the Ikenne Local Government Area of the State.

Speaking at the official landing of the maiden test flight into the Airport, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, expressed optimism that the airport would help to transform the state’s economy and serve as the catalyst to boost development in the South West region and the nation.

The Vice President who described the International Agro Cargo Airport as the Engine room of robust economy, commerce and business, also announced ongoing efforts to ensure that Kajola Dry Port in the state would soon become operational.

Addressing the excited residents, Governor Dapo Abiodun explained that the airport was part of an integrated development programme aimed at unleashing the full potential of the state

He pointed out that the construction of the airport would strengthen his administration’s bid to provide a conducive atmosphere for industries and attract more foreign investors.

Earlier, the Minister of Aviation, Senator Hadi  Sirika had emphasized that the airport would improve the socio-economic development of the people of the state, noting that the gains of the airport with the ability to enhance the movement of cargo to designated locations could not be quantified.
