Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike has commended residents of Oyo state and Governor Seyi Makinde for supporting the return of power to the South in the just concluded presidential election. 

He said this during the inauguration of an aviation fuel depot and a 3.2km dual carriage airport road project in Ibadan by Governor Seyi Makinde-led government

Nyesom Wike, who is the leader of G-5 Governors of the Peoples Democratic Party, had been agitating that power returned to the South before the February 25th presidential election.  

Governor Wike, who explained that the people had made history by backing equity and justice, equally urged them to re-elect governor Makinde in the March 11th governorship election for continued good governance in Oyo state. 

In his address, Governor Makinde said his administration would continue to take action which would put Oyo state on the path of sustainable development.

Governor Makinde, who named the road project after the former governor, Dr Victor Olunloyo, assured that his government would continue to honour heroes and ensure their labours were not in vain. 

Responding, the former Governor of Old Oyo State, Dr Omololu Olunloyo, expressed excitement at the honour bestowed on him by Governor Makinde.

It would be recalled that the dualization of the Airport road was inaugurated in February 2022
