Oyo State Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde, his Deputy, Chief Bayo Lawal alongside 32 House of Assembly Member Elect in the 18th March Governorship Poll have been issued certificates of return by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.

The International Conference Center, University of Ibadan, the venue of the event was full to the brim of families, friends, political associates and other well-wishers to witness the ceremony.

Speaking after the presentation of a certificate of return, the re-elected governor, Seyi Makinde said his return would provide an opportunity for the incoming administration to re-double efforts in taking people from poverty to prosperity.

Governor Makinde noted that the major contenders in the opposition parties, Senator Teslim Folarin of All Progressives Congress and Bayo Adelabu on the platform of the Accord party congratulated him.

The governor however thanked stakeholders who contributed to the success of the election. 

The INEC National Commissioner in charge of Oyo, Lagos and Ekiti, Sam Olumekun while acknowledging that the election was filled with ups and downs maintained that INEC was committed to the standard democratic election in Nigeria.

In a remark, the Oyo state Resident Electoral Commissioner, Dr Adeniran Teller, reassured the people that the commission is poised at building on the high level of credibility, and has achieved so far by deploying the use of technology into the electoral process.

Dr Teller, urged the Governor-Elect, his Deputy and the 32 House of Assembly Member-Elect to be magnanimous in victory by using the renewed mandate given to them by the people to serve diligently and truthfully.

He appreciated stakeholders for their support before, during and after the election.
