The Zonal Director, Radio Nigeria, Ibadan Zonal Station, Mr Dominic Mokikan has said experience is the best way to assert professionalism in the media industry.

Mr Mokikan stated this while receiving a copy of the book: The Health Correspondent: From Cub To Seasoned Reporter, A Succinct Footnote For Aspiring Journalists, written by Manager News and Current Affairs Radio Nigeria Ibadan, Mrs Anthonia Akanji.

The Zonal Director explained that penning down one’s journalistic experience in the form of a book as a guide for educating and mentoring purposes was a unique way of impressing one’s indelible mark in the media.

Mr Mokikan who berated the low level of reading among Nigerians noted that the book sensitized him to new things about general health issues and praised the creativity and ingenuity of the author in putting together her works and experiences as a health correspondent as well a step-by-step guide to both the upcoming journalists and the layman.

A copy of the book was also presented to the Director General of the corporation through the Zonal Director.

Also, receiving the book in his office, Deputy Director, Programmes, Reverend Niyi Dahunsi expressed delight at the developmental stages of Mrs Akanji from a greenhorn to a seasoned reporter on the health beat.

Reverend Dahunsi however, enjoined others in the journalism profession to emulate Mrs Akanji by serving as mentors to their subordinates.
