Activities marking the 110th Founders Day anniversary of one of Nigerias Premier Secondary School, Ibadan Grammar School, IGS, Molete have kicked off with the inauguration of a modernised buttery donated by the 1968/1972 Class set.

Speaking at the ceremony, the 12th National President of the Association, Mr Oladimeji Mako noted that the members decided to put up the befitting structure because students and foodsellers have been transacting business under a tree in the school compound for years.

Mr. Mako said other projects completed by the members included the refurbished administrative block and an international tennis federation standard court.

He highlighted activities lined up for the Founders Day celebration to include the Annual General meeting AGM, the “OBU NIGHT” which is the relishing of beans porridge by members in reminiscence of their favourite dish while in the school, the Dinner and Award night as well as the Thanksgiving service in the school Chapel on Sunday.

At the Annual General meeting held at the Emmanuel Alayande Hall, Mr Mako listed his achievements as organising the 7th Emmanuel Alayande memorial lecture, hosting the AIONIAN Games tagged Oluyole 2023, establishment of the IGSOSA Resource Centre as well as the association website.

The National President announced that the Perimeter fencing of the School would soon commence to ensure protection of lives of Staff and students as well as the school infrastructure.

A Life Trustee member and distinguished old student Sir Mathew Adepoju called for an upward review of the association annual dues pointing out that members should be paying since the right to vote was based on individuals.

The IGSOSA National Secretary Biodun Akinbile as well as the National Treasurer Kunle Oluwole presented their reports at the AGM.

The National Publicity and Social Secretary who’s also Chairman 1977/1982 Set, Mr Akinyinka Akintola said the school has produced eminent and influential Nigerians who have made their marks in their various endeavors.

Mr. Akintola who is the General Manager Radio Nigeria Paramount FM Abeokuta Ogun state maintained that he was proud to be an old student of the school because of its commitment to the service of God and the country.
