The National Commission for Refugees, Migrants, and Internally displaced persons has launched transitional learning centers to facilitate access to accelerate and informal educational opportunities for Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs).

Launching the project in New Kuchingoro IDP Camp Abuja on Friday, the Commissioner, National Commission for Refugees, Migrants and Internally Displaced Persons, Imaan Sulaiman Ibrahim said the transitional centres are in furtherance of Educate All Initiative launched in 2022 in partnership with Aid for Rural Education Access Initiative (AREAI).

“Despite their great vulnerability, internally displaced and migrant children and their specific educational needs are now well placed to attract support within national educational policies and humanitarian response plans,” she said.

Also, the Coordinating Head of AREAI, Gideon Olarewaju said the Initiatives has worked assiduously to make education accessible to the IDPs with the help of the Federal government.

Mrs Joy Onojah the representative of the Minister of Education Mallam Adamu Adamu, said the Ministry would collaborate with the Commission on the project, to ensure that every child has basic education.

They are operational in eight IDP camps in the FCT, including New Kuchingoro, Takuchara, Karon Majigida, Wassa, Waru, Durumi, Malaysian Garden, and Yimutu.
