Ogun State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board has organized a special prayer in honour of the late democracy hero, Chief Moshood Abiola, in the Holy city of Saudi Arabia.

According to the Board’s Information Officer, Mr Gafar Alabi, the  State Amirul Hajj, Professor Kamaldeen Balogun who led the prayers said Chief Abiola’s name remained indelible as one who fought for the democracy being enjoyed by Nigerians, noting that MKO’s love for the country was genuine.

Prof Balogun who prayed for successful tenure of the present administration in the State and the country described June 12 as a time to remember a hero who fought and sacrificed his life for Nigeria.

In his contribution, the chairman Ad-hoc Committee, Imam Tajudeen Ashaye also applauded MKO Abiola’s love for the country to the extent of sacrificing his life for the people to enjoy the dividends of democracy.

Another Speaker and Consultant to the Governor on Islamic Affairs, Sheikh Iskeel Lawal said the late MKO Abiola was being remembered for his good deeds while alive, praying Allah to grant him Aljanah.

Similarly, one of the Ad-hoc committee members, Alhaji Olatunde Oladunjoye who described the late Abiola as a philanthropist that extended his love and support to many prayed that God will uphold his family and strengthen the present administration in Ogun State to excellently achieve all set goals.

One of the pilgrims, Alhaji Tijani Nojeem, while acknowledging the struggle of the late MKO for democracy said the icon would forever be remembered and also appreciated the state government for organizing a successful pilgrimage.
