Ogun State government has initiated a programme that will enable residents to donate items that are considered no longer needed by them to others who may have needs for such items. 

The Commissioner for Environment, Mr Ola Oresanya who made this known in Abeokuta said the social inclusion initiative, tagged “Renew and Reuse Waste Agenda” would involve the exchange of items such as undersized or outgrown clothes, shoes, discarded fabrics, toys, household items, books and publications among others. 

Mr Oressanya said the Agenda seeks to bond every strata of the population together through the renewal of some items considered as waste to useful materials for reuse by those who need them thereby promoting human kindness.

The Commissioner explained that several Collection Boxes would be placed at Government Offices, prominent Eateries, Stores, Public Outlets and Non-Governmental Organizations and NGO offices across the state for collection of the items.

Also, the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development,Mrs Adijat Adeleye said the items donated in the Collection Boxes would be sorted, cleaned and re-packaged in collaboration with the Ministry of Environment at the state government’s expenses and would be distributed free to those that need them.

She implored well-meaning Nigerians to support the needy through the programme.
