Ogun State Government has been advised to approve the deployment of local security, especially the Amotekun Corps across the state to complement the efforts of conventional security agencies in protecting lives and property of the people, in view of the rising spate of insecurity, especially kidnapping and ritual killings.

The Speaker, Ogun State House of Assembly, Mr Oludaisi Elemide gave the advice while responding to the submissions of a member representing Ijebu North-East State Constituency, Mr Oluseun Adesanya, who informed the House about the case of a pupil that was kidnapped at the toilets of the school and killed for suspected ritual purposes.

Mr Elemide who maintained that the prevailing security challenges confronting the nation required the collective efforts of all residents, adding that the deployment of local security operatives with adequate understanding of the grassroots would help in safeguarding public primary and secondary schools in the state.

Mr Elemide also directed the State Ministry of Education, Science and Technology as well as the State Universal Basic Education, SUBEB to conduct an assessment on all public schools to determine the level of encroachment on their landed property, to checkmate such illegal acts to enhance the safety of school pupils.

The Speaker who was reacting to another submission by the lawmaker representing Sagamu 2 State constituency, Mr Ademola Adeniran on the level of encroachment on public schools, also applauded old students associations for providing complementary infrastructural facilities to aid the security and convenience of pupils in some of the schools.
