Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola has described the use of alternative medicine as an inheritance from the forefathers that could be harnessed to boost the health sector.

Governor Adeleke stated this at the inauguration of Traditional, Complimentary and Alternative Medicine Board members at Abere, Osun State.

Represented by the Commissioner for Health, Mr. Jola Akintola, the Governor noted that not everybody would use orthodox medicine, therefore, the need to establish a board to oversee the practice of alternative medicine in the state.

He explained that the board would work with the state government to ensure the development of traditional medical Institutions as well as put an end to the practice of quackery in traditional medicine.

Governor Adeleke advised the board members to work in harmony and ensure every practitioner of traditional medicine is registered to flush out quackery.

Earlier, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Health, Dr. Isiaka Adekunle had explained that the establishment of the board was a directive from the Federal Ministry of Health to coordinate the activities of Traditional, Complimentary and Alternative Medicine in all the 36 states of the federation.

In his acceptance speech, the board Chairman, Chief Abiodun Oladebo promised to sanitize the traditional medicine to make the herbs and other medicine acceptable worldwide.

Other board members are Mr. Aboderin Bello, Mr. Muideen Aderibigbe, Chief Ibulola Olasode, Alhaja Rashidat Olaniyan, Chief Lukman Akanni and Mr. Femi Ojo as Secretary.
