Ogun State Government has approved the revitalization of the farm settlements, to attract more youths to farming and to further boost the state’s food production status.

The commissioner for Agriculture and Food Security, Mr Bolu Owootomo announced this while speaking with Radio Nigeria in Abeokuta.

Mr Owootomo, who noted that a team of assessors had been deployed to the settlements to identify their areas of need, gave the assurance that the state government would continue to support the farmers for improved productivity through various interventions.

Mr Owootomo said over five hundred farmers were supported with the dry season farm inputs for the cultivation of 50 hectares of rice farmlands as part of measures towards promoting food security.

He said the state government was working with relevant security agencies in the state particularly the agro rangers to protect farmers on their various farms.
