In fulfilment of his promise to the people of the state, Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun has announced the commencement of the disbursement of 10,000 naira, known as “Ogun State educash” to students of public primary and secondary schools across the state to cushion the effects of the economic hardship rocking the nation 

Our correspondent reports that parents have begun to receive the cash transfer on behalf of their children at schools in Ogun Central Senatorial District.

The disbursement exercise supervised by the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, led by its Commissioner, Professor Abayomi Arigbabu was flagged off in some of the Public Schools in Ogun Central Senatorial District  where a large number of parents received the money directly on their phones.

Some of the Schools where the exercise took place included Baptist Girls College, Idiaba, Abeokuta Grammar School, Idi-Aba and African Church Grammar School, Ita-Eko in Abeokuta South Local Government, Unity High School at Ago-Ika, Baptist Boys High School, Saje and Ebenezer Grammar School, Elega and St Peters College, Olomoore in Abeokuta North Local Government. 

While addressing the Parents of the beneficiaries, the Commissioner of Education, Science and Technology, Professor Arigbabu said the cash disbursement meant for the indigent students was part of Governor Abiodun’s agenda of enhancing educational development in the state

Professor Arigbabu advised the parents to use the money for the purpose it was meant for by equipping their children with all necessary things that would improve their educational standard.

The Commissioner stated that the disbursement exercise would be extended to the other two senatorial Districts in the state.

Reacting to the gesture, some of the Parents lauded Governor Dapo Abiodun for the cash disbursement. 

Some Parents who spoke with Radio Nigeria at the various schools visited, described the ten thousand naira cash incentives as a relief that would help them to provide some of the things needed by their children In the face of the ongoing economic challenges. 

The Parents prayed to God to empower the Governor to do more good things for the people of the state. 

Also speaking, the Principal of Baptist Girls College School One, Mrs Stella Wendi and the Principal of School Two, Mrs Idowu Adebukola commended the Governor, stating he has done well in the education sector since assumption of office .
