It was an emotional moment for the Deputy Director Internal Audit, Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, FRCN, Ibadan Zonal Station, Alhaji Abdulrasheed Akande at a sendoff ceremony after 34years, 5months and 10days in service.

The event held at the Studio One, Broadcasting House, Radio Nigeria, Dugbe, Ibadan was organized by members of the Audit Department to felicitate Alhaji Akande, who was in company of his wife, Mrs  Akande, a staff of FRCN.

One after the other, the colleagues of the retiring Deputy Director, including the Deputy Director Marketing, Mr. Wale Afinjuomo, Deputy Director Programmes, Reverend Niyi Dahunsi, Deputy Director Finance, Mr James Amole and the Vice President, Radio, Television and Theatre Arts Workers Union, RATTAWU Southwest, Mr. Dare Durosinmi paid him tributes.

They charged to him to continue his legacy of hard work, diligence and trustworthiness.

Earlier, the Zonal Director, Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, FRCN, Ibadan Zonal Station, Mr Dominic Mokikan described Alhaji Akande as a timely and punctual person whose virtue was worthy of emulation.

Icing on the cake of the event was the commendation by the former National President of RATTAWU and currently the Executive Secretary of Broadcasting Organisation of Nigeria, BON, Dr. Yemisi Bamgbose, who said Alhaji Akande was a unionist Par Excellence.

Speaking via phone to the gathering, Dr Bamgbose said Alhaji Akande’s tenure as Treasurer of RATTAWU was marked by accountability, transparency, commitment to the welfare of members.

On her part, the Chief Executive Officer, CEO, Kayrom Lee Gym and Fitness Centre, Ibadan, Ambassador Romoke Ayinde who was in company of her husband and friend of the celebrant, Alhaji Kazeem Ayinde, eulogized the retiring Deputy Director for his advice, friendliness and unique factor of bringing people together for peace in the society.

Responding, Alhaji Akande, in emotion laden voice expressed gratitude to God for achieving the feat, and used the occasion to call on the Federal Government to prioritize the welfare of workers, and to give more attention to FRCN to facilitate optimal performance.

Also at the occasion were representatives from his secondary school, Ibadan City Academy, Eleta, 1983 Set led by an ace photojournalist, Mr. Dare Fasube, Oyo State Executive RATTAWU led by the Chairman, Mr Bayo Aribatise, Zonal Executive of RATTAWU, and members of Staff of FRCN.

Highlight of the event was presentation of gifts from various groups and individuals, particularly the members of the Audit Department.
