Oyo State Government has commenced re-verification of owners/claimants affected by the acquisition of land on one of the segments of Senator Rashidi Ladoja Circular Road.
The re-verification is being conducted at Islamic High School, Basorun, Ibadan.
Addressing the owners/claimants of houses and land from the Alago to Ajota area, Chairman, Monitoring team on the payment of compensation to land owners/claimants affected on the axis, CP Sunday Odukoya (Rtd), stated that the exercise was geared towards putting smiles on the people.
CP Odukoya (Rtd) while urging the affected persons of the axis to embrace the opportunity presented by the state government equally appealed to them to cooperate with the team.
Also, Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Dr Wasiu Olatunbosun, a member of the monitoring team who explained that the exercise is free, told the affected persons not to deal with any third party on the re-verification exercise.
Some of the land owners/claimants, Jimoh Keyinsi, Kazeem Bello and Mrs Adeola Bolatito in an interview appreciated the modalities on which the re-verification exercise is being carried out and expressed optimism that their efforts would not be in vain.
They confirmed that necessary documents were verified to ascertain their claims of the properties.
Governor Seyi Makinde had earlier directed the monitoring team to re-verify documents of affected persons with genuine documents with a view to compensating them.
The exercise which targeted about 3000 owners and claimants in the axis would be concluded on Saturday 22nd December 2024.
