Makinde Urges Youths to Embrace Skills for Self-reliance

Oyo State Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde has charged Nigerian youths to braze up to the challenge of economic realities through sharpening of their skills to be self reliant.

The governor gave the charge at the swearing in ceremony of 2024 Batch C, Stream 2 corps members held at the permanent orientation camp, Iseyin, Oyo state.

The Governor, whose address was read by the Commissioner for Youths and Sports development, Miss Wasilat Adegoke, explained that the current economic challenge requires ingenuity, exceptional skills and talents for a turn around.

He noted that it was expedient for the youths to upscale some entrepreneurial skills already learnt for personal economic sufficiency and that of the country.

Earlier, the State Coordinator, NYSC, Mr. Odoba Oche, enjoined the corps members to take advantage of the orientation activities so as to be better equipped for the one year mandatory service.

He admonished them to pay keen attention and take active role in the skill acquisition programme so as to add innovative ideas to their degree certificate to enable them stand out after the one year mandatory national service.

The swearing-in ceremony was conducted by the Chief Judge of Oyo state, Justice Iyabo Yerima and was witnessed by Aseyin of Iseyin, Oba Oyebola Adeyeri III, security chiefs, traditional chiefs, clerics as well as representatives from corporate organisations.
