Oyo State government has distributed fifteen brand new motorcycles to its agricultural extension officers.
The presentation took place at the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Secretariat, Agodi Ibadan.
Distributing the motorcycles, the Commissioner for Agriculture, Mr Olasunkanmi Olaleye, said the first phase of motorcycles distribution to the agricultural extension officers would enhance the flexibility of its operations in the rural agrarian zones of the state.
Mr Olaleye noted that the present administration had succeeded in ploughing 6,090 acres of land last year through the tractorization subsidy initiative which benefitted 1500 farmers, saying the initiative is beginning to have a positive impact against the food inflation in Oyo State.
He said Governor Seyi Makinde-led administration in the state is poised for research, orientation of local farmers and boost food production.
Some of the beneficiaries including Azeez Zakariyau, and Adeniran Rotimi lauded the state government for prioritizing agric-business and agricultural development, promising to use motorcycles for its purpose.
It would be recalled that the state government employed 168 extension workers in 2024, with other recent engagement of 161 others.
