Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has announced a cash reward of 2.5 million naira for each gold medal won by Ogun State athletes at the National Sports Festival, NSF, set to commence on Sunday in the state.
The governor also pledged 1.5 million naira for each silver medal and 1 million naira for each bronze medal earned during the competition.
Governor Abiodun made the announcement during a visit to the Athletics Camp at Babcock University, Ilisan-Remo, in the Ikenne Local Government Area.
While addressing the athletes, he further assured that every Ogun State athlete would receive a 50,000 naira incentive within 24 hours, to encourage them to bring glory to the state via their performance.
The governor praised the athletes as the best the state has to offer, stating that: “You are not here just to compete, but to win. We are not just hosting; we are hosting to win. You must bring the medals home.”
