Following the declaration of a public holiday by the federal government, to mark the Easter celebration, Oyo Police Command has assured residents of adequate security before, during, and after the festive period, across the state.
A statement signed by the public relations officer of the command, DSP Olayinka Ayanlade says the assurance is in line with the directive of the Nigeria Police Force, NPF, to strengthen public safety and boost citizens’ confidence during the festive period.
In the statement, the Commissioner of Police in the state, Olugbenga Abimbola congratulates Christians on the occasion of Easter and urges residents to embrace love, sacrifice, humility and peaceful coexistence, according to the teachings of Jesus Christ.
CP Abimbola emphasizes that, the Command has put in place intelligence-led security in collaboration with other security agencies to ensure maximum coverage at worship centres, recreational facilities, highways and other public places.
The police boss also calls for public cooperation to share timely and credible information, urging residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious persons or activities to the nearest police station or through the Command’s emergency lines.
