Obasanjo Mourns Akran of Badagry

Former President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, has expressed deep sorrow over the death of the Akran of Badagry, Oba De Wheno Aholu Menu-Toyi I.

Chief Obasanjo said the news of the monarch’s death was a rude shock, describing the late traditional ruler as one of the most respected monarchs in Lagos State.

The former President noted that Oba Menu-Toyi I lived a fulfilled life spanning over eight decades and reigned for about fifty years, during which Badagry Kingdom enjoyed peace, stability and progress.

He described Badagry as a historic kingdom with a rich cultural heritage, noting that the late monarch was a patriotic custodian of tradition who devoted himself to preserving and promoting the values of his people, while fostering unity, peace and development across Badagry.

The former President commiserated with the Lagos State government ,the people of Badagry and the royal family, urging them to take solace in the belief that the late monarch lived a worthy life of service.
