6 LAUTECH Students Die in Road Accident

The management of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso, has confirmed the death of six students of the institution in a ghastly road crash along the Ilorin–Ogbomoso Road.

The Registrar of the institution,  Mrs. Olayinka Balogun confirmed the sad development in a statement made available to newsmen in Ogbomoso.

She described the incident as tragic and a monumental loss to the university community.

Mrs Balogun identified the deceased students as Shehu Nana Firdawsi Hamza, Idris Jamila, Abdulraheem Maimunah Hamza, Blessing Kevwe, Owoicho Elizabeth, and Aroke Ozavize Victoria.

THE LAUTECH Registrar stated that the students, all in their final year under the Open and Distance Learning Nursing programme, were travelling in a public bus from Suleja, Niger State to the campus in Ogbomoso for their final examinations when the accident occurred at Otte in Kwara State.

The management of LAUTECH therefore extended its condolences to the families of the deceased and urged members of the public to pray for the repose of their souls.

One of the late students was said to have been heavily pregnant.

According to the report, the university community has since been thrown into mourning over the death of the six students.
