Rising National Debt: Reducing the cost of governance is the way out – Professor Adebayo

The federal government has been advised to enforce fiscal discipline
as a way of saving the nation from perpetual debt crisis.

Professor Abayomi Adebayo of the Economics Department, Obafemi Awolowo University, OAU, Ile-Ife, gave the advice while speaking with Radio Nigeria.

He noted that government would not need to take foreign and domestic loans to fund annual budgets if it had in the first place reduce the cost of governance.

While advising youths to shun cybercrime, Professor Adebayo explained that university degrees were not the only means to succeed, emphasising
that youths can make a living through their natural skills by leveraging on technical colleges and vocational training schemes.
