Schools in Ogun State are to keep pupils in primary and secondary classes for only 3 hours per day when they reopen for the 2020 /2021 session on Monday 21st of September.
Governor Dapo Abiodun disclosed this in a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Kunle Somorin in Abeokuta.
The Governor pointed out that the second phase of the reopening of schools would cover all classes in primary and secondary schools, Technical and Vocational Colleges as well as Tertiary Institutions.
He explained that as part of the efforts to adhere to the COVID-19 guidelines for school operations pupils in Primary 1 to 3 would have their classes between 8.00am and 11.00am while Primary 4 to 6 would work between 12.00 noon and 3.00pm.
The Governor stated that Junior Secondary School Students would be in class from 8.00am to 11.00am while the senior colleagues would take their classes between 12.00noon and 3.00pm.
He pointed out that Technical and Vocational colleges would operate normal school hours and tertiary institutions would be allowed to also resume their academic calendar beginning from the 21st of this month.
While explaining that the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology had been directed to promote students to the next class, including automatic placement for primary 6 students moving to junior secondary schools, the Governor gave the assurance that all public schools would be provided with the required items to meet the COVID-19 safety guidelines and advised private school owners observe the necessary protocols.
