The Social Democratic Party, SDP, flagbearer in the November 16th governorship election in Ondo State, Otunba Bamidele Akingboye says he will correct past mistakes of past successive governments if given the mandate to serve the people of the Sunshine State.
While addressing journalists in Ibadan, Otunba Bamidele who explained that his sojourn towards becoming the governor of the Ondo State began 24 years ago, said he had transversed the state and identified its problems in different areas.
The Ondo state SDP candidate said he would correct mistakes of the past and the present governments in the state by putting the right pegs in the right holes to bring good governance to the state.
Otunba Bamidele expressed optimism that he would be victorious in the November 16th, Ondo State governorship election.
The SDP governorship candidate however, urged the people to come out en-masse to perform their civic responsibilities.
He said, “My chances are very bright. I am the only person that came out from the Okitipupa Local government which is the icon of the South where Agboola Ajayi come from, where Jimoh Ibrahim come from. I am the only candidate there, if you go to Ilaje where we have the present governor, Ayedatiwa, we have six candidates from there and where Agboola Ajayi comes from is the minority of Ondo State which we call the Ese-Odo”.
“And Ebiseni married from Ese-Odo. So, we have super contestants there. He married to the regent of Ese-Odo. With that, I think they have their own challenges in Ilaje. Six people dragging it there and two people are also dragging themselves in Ese-Odo but I am the only person sitting comfortably in Okitipupa local government. And if you know Ondo State very well, there are four local governments, we call Okitipupa division; Okitipupa, Irele, Ile-Oluji Oke ‘gbo and Odigbo. we work together “parí passu”. So, those four local governments believed that they are Ikales. That advantage of supporting me is there”.”If you now go back to the central, my mother is a princess of Owo. I believe that with this, I will be able to prove good stunt in this election”, he concluded.
On the issue of the power of incumbency playing out in the forthcoming Ondo State governorship election, Otunba Bamidele expressed confidence that President Bola Tinubu is an honourable man who would not back what is not right.
On the campaign team of the Ondo state SDP governorship candidate was the younger brother to the former governor of Ondo State, Late Rotimi Akeredolu (SAN), Mr Femi Akeredolu.
