The remains of Alhaji Adeniyi Mukhtar Odekunle who died in the early hours of Wednesday have been buried at the Muslim cemetery in Paseda off Ayegun Oleyo Road, Ibadan.

The body of the former General Manager Paramount FM Abeokuta was earlier prayed upon by Muslim jamaat, family members, and members of staff of Radio Nigeria Ibadan Zonal Station at the premises of Otunba Adedeji Central Mosque, felele where his body was prepared for final Burial rites.

In a sermon, Imam of central mosque challenge, Alhaji Jabar Adelabu urged family members and sympathisers to embrace righteous living and contribute positively to everyone that comes their way.

The cleric who spoke in Yoruba, extolled the virtues of the late Ahaji Odekunle, saying he touched many lives positively while on earth urging his family members and the people to sustain the legacy.

In a tribute, his childhood friend and Deputy Director of Internal Audit, Radio Nigeria Ibadan Zonal Station, Alhaji Adewale Akande, described the late Odekunle as a complete and unassuming man.

The Deputy Director, News and Current Affairs, Radio Nigeria Ibadan Zonal Station, Mr. Adewumi Faniran, who described the deceased as a friendly man loved by all lamented that Alhaji Odekunle died on the eve of a well-planned editorial ceremony slated for Thursday morning to pull him out of service.

The immediate brother of the deceased, Dr. Morisayo Odekunle and his niece, Mrs Aderonke Idowu narrated how Alhaji Odekunle was instrumental to their accomplishments.

Alhaji Adeniyi Mukhtar Odekunle has engraved his footprints in the sands of time in Nigeria’s media sector as he served different terms as General manager at Radio Nigeria Amuludun fm Moniya Ibadan and Paramount FM Abeokuta before he retired in October last year. He will be greatly missed for his positive role and contributions towards the growth of the sector in Nigeria.

He’s survived by his wife and three children.

The new General Manager of Paramount F.M Abeokuta, Mr. Akinyinka Akintola has assumed office.

Mr. Akintola takes over from Alhaji Adeniyi Odekunle who had been redeployed to the headquarters of FRCN Ibadan Zonal Station.

During a short handing over ceremony held at the Paramount FM Conference Room, the former General Manager, Alhaji Odekunle thanked the staff of the station for the cooperation he enjoyed while at the helms of affairs and enjoined them to extend same to the new General Manager.

Mr. Akintola while delivering, a message from the Zonal Director, Mrs. Bolatito Joseph on the need to return the station to its former enviable status called on staff of Paramount F.M to redouble their efforts.

The change of baton ceremony was witnessed by the staff of the station with prayers for the new and former General Managers, the station, and the corporation as a whole.

The Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, FRCN, is attaching importance to mentorship and in-house training to boost the capacity of staff for effective performance.

The Deputy Director News and Current Affairs, FRCN, Ibadan Zonal Station, Elder Adenrele Ajisefini, stated this in Abeokuta, Ogun State at the opening of training for translators and other members of staff of Radio Nigeria, Paramount FM.

Opening his keynote address with a message from the Acting Zonal Director, Mrs. Bolanle Owoyemi, Elder Ajisefini charged the personnel to shun indiscipline and deploy their professional skills towards meeting the information needs of the public and boosting the corporation’s Internally Generated Revenue, IGR.

The Deputy Director News expressed the hope that participants in the training would be empowered to gain more grounds in the profession and add value to the listeners.

Declaring the training session open, the General Manager of Paramount FM, Alhaji Adeniyi Odekunle, who commended the FRCN Management for the gesture, urged the corporation to sustain the efforts to improve staff productivity. In separate remarks, Head of News, Mrs. Oluremi Olugbenro and the Head of Programmes, Mr. Dapo Oyekanmi encouraged participants to make good use of the training to learn, unlearn and relearn new ideas.

The training programme is expected to be rounded off on Friday.

The National Orientation Agency, NOA, has solicited the collaboration of Radio Nigeria’s Paramount FM, Abeokuta in its efforts to strengthen the fight against social vices in Nigeria. 

Ogun State Director of the agency, Mr. Kolawole Obadina made the call in Abeokuta during a courtesy call on the General Manager of the station, Alhaji Adeniyi Odekunle.

Mr. Obadina who explained that the visit was aimed at cementing the existing cordial relationship between NOA and Paramount FM, maintained that the collaboration was necessary to promote national values among residents of the state. 

The NOA State director also urged the station to promote more youth-oriented enlightenment programmes for the benefit of the people. 

Responding, the general manager, radio Nigeria’s Paramount FM, Abeokuta, Alhaji Adeniyi Odekunle promised that the station would continue to partner the agency in sensitizing the people. 

Alhaji Odekunle further urged the new state director to sustain teamwork and humility while wishing him a successful tenure.

As part of efforts to flatten the curve of Covid-19, the Federal Fire Service Covid-19 Response Team, has commenced the fumigation exercise of all federal government establishments across the country.


During the exercise at Radio Nigeria, Paramount FM, Abeokuta, Ogun State, the leader of the team, Assistant Superintendent of Fire, Mr Ezekiel Ayansiji explained that the exercise was aimed at cleaning and disinfecting the environment of federal government establishments to maintain hygiene and minimize the spread of the virus.


Mr Ayansiji who pointed out that the step was expected to ensure safety of workers for efficient service delivery, reminded Nigerians of the need to continue to ensure strict compliance to measures against the spread of Covid-19.

In a remark, the General Manager, Paramount FM, Alhaji Adeniyi Odekunle commended the Covid-19 Response Team for the exercise, describing the gesture as a right step in the right direction.

Alhaji Odekunle appealed to the relevant stakeholders to ensure continuation of the exercise, urging the people to complement the effort of the federal government at combating the pandemic in the country.

The acting Zonal Director, Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, FRCN, Ibadan Zonal Station, Mrs Bolanle Owoyemi wants the staff of the corporation to make their impact felt on the society through dedication to work.

Mrs Owoyemi who gave the advice during a visit to Radio Nigeria, Paramount FM Abeokuta, emphasized the need for the staff members to always promote joy and unity in their interactions with the public, colleagues and the management. 

She stressed that as stakeholders, the staff must strive to make a difference by ensuring the better performance of the station.

The acting zonal director commended workers in the engineering department of the station for their ingenious efforts to keep the station on air despite the challenges and assured that the management would do the needful in providing the necessary logistics. 

Earlier the General Manager, Radio Nigeria Paramount FM, Abeokuta, Alhaji Adeniyi Odekunle, thanked the acting ZD for her interventions which had transmitted to improved transmission and other positive changes at the station.

Alhaji Odekunle equally solicited the continued support of the management to enhance the station’s efforts to bridge the information gap between the leaders and the people, especially those at the grassroots.

Professionals in the media industry have been reminded of the need to prioritize the nation’s survival in their efforts to inform, educate and enlighten the people. 

Ogun State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Alhaji Abdul -waheed Odusile gave the advice when he led stakeholders from the Ministry on a courtesy visit to the management of Radio Nigeria, Paramount FM, Abeokuta, led by the General Manager, Alhaji Adeniyi Odekunle.
