Fulfil all campaign promises – Cleric charges Gov. Adeleke

Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has assured all of the good and sustainable development in all strata of the state’s economy.

Governor Adeleke gave the assurance at a special service to mark this year’s Armed Forces Remembrance Day at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Ayetoro, Osogbo.

The governor who commended the military in the fight against insecurity said his government would support the veterans and their families.

Earlier in his homily, the Bishop of Osogbo Diocese, Most Reverend Father John Oyejola urged the federal government to give priority to the welfare of servicemen as they had sacrificed their lives guarding the nation.

Most Reverend Father Oyejola who advised the military and other security operatives not to be partisan politicians so that they can discharge their duties faithfully urged the people and politicians not to engage in vote selling & buying in the coming election.

The cleric admonished Governor Adeleke to fulfil all his campaign promises noting that the best way he can live is to impact people’s lives positively for his name to be written in gold in the annals of history.

“I want to advise the Governor to do well for the people of Osun. Make sure to find out the truth always and not believe only what people surrounding you tell you, because they may not say the truth”, the cleric added.

Dignitaries at the service include the Deputy Governor, Prince Kola Adewusi, the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Teslim Igbalaye, Service Chiefs as well as the legions and widows of past heroes.

Armed Forces Day: Gov. Adeleke Launches Emblem

Osun State Governor Senator Ademola Adeleke has reassured the military service of the government’s commitment to the security sector reform which places the welfare of service personnel at the centre stage. 

Governor Adeleke stated this at the launching of the emblem for the year 2023 Armed Forces Remembrance Day in Osogbo.

The Governor, who noted that the stability of the nation rests on the gallantry, patriotism and sacrifice of the security and military services, said the country must continue to acknowledge the contributions of the armed forces to the survival of the nation.

“Today is another significant period to mark and remember the unquantifiable contributions of members of Nigeria’s Armed Forces to the peace and stability of our great country, Nigeria. We are gathered here as in other capitals across the country to place our debt of gratitude on records to our fallen heroes who paid the supreme sacrifice”.

Governor Adeleke said he would recommit to the well-being of military service personnel while the veterans and their families would continue to receive support in recognition of their service to the fatherland.

The Governor also launched the appeal fund for the 2023 Emblem for the Armed Forces Remembrance Day with a sum of Five Million Naira.

Earlier, the Chairman Nigeria Legion, Osun State, Comrade Peter Oladipo had called for timely support for widows and families of military men who died in the course of service to their motherland.

Abiodun Advocates Peaceful Coexistence Among Ethnic Groups

Ogun State Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun has launched the 2022 Armed Forces Remembrance Emblem with a call on well meaning Nigerians to assist the widows and orphans of the fallen heroes.

Speaking on the occasion held at Conference Hall, Okemosan Abeokuta, Governor Abiodun

said Nigerian Legion was established to promote the welfare of the ex- servicemen and adequately cater for the wellbeing of the families of the fallen heroes.

While describing men and officers of the Nigerian Armed Force as true heroes and symbols of national unity, the Governor stressed the need for peaceful coexistence among the various ethnic groups across the country.

He noted that diversity remained the bedrock of the country and emphasized that all hands must be on deck to sustain the nation’s unity.

Earlier, Ogun State Chairman, Nigerian Legion, Mr Olumuyiwa Orukotan, said the celebration of the Armed Forces Remembrance Day was to remind Nigerians of fatalities suffered by ex-servicemen and the fallen heroes as well as the plight of their families.

The Chairman who said unemployment remained the major challenge confronting the ex-servicemen, appealed to well-meaning Nigerians to come to their aid.

Ogun Marks Armed Forces Remembrance Day with Jumat Service

Activities to celebrate the  2021 Armed Forces and Femembrance Day in Ogun State have commenced with Jumat Service where Muslim faithful gathered at Egba Central Mosque Kobiti Abeokuta to acknowledge the selfless contributions of the fallen heroes in keeping Nigeria together and in peace.

Governor Dapo Abiodun at the special Jumat service stated that the people of the state would continue to appreciate efforts of the fallen Heroes by supporting their families.

Armed Forces Day Jumat: Gov. Makinde Calls for Sustenance of Sovereignty

Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo has admonished families of the fallen heroes to keep their hope alive and never let the labor of the heroes past be in vain.

Governor Makinde, who was represented at the special Jumat at Oja’ba Central Mosque to commemorate the 2021 Armed Forces Remembrance Day by the Deputy Chief of Staff, Mr Abdul Mojeed  Mogbonjubola, urged military men, who are still in service to keep defending the sovereignty of the Nation.

The governor, who sympathized with families of the fallen heroes who lost their lives during the course of serving the Nation, urged Nigerian soldiers to continue to enhance the unity of the country. 

In his sermon, the Chief Imam of Ibadanland, Sheik AbdulGaniyy Abubakri Agbotomokekere, acknowledged the sacrifice of the fallen war veterans and urged those who are still in service not to relent in protecting the lives and properties of every citizens.

He thereafter prayed for the families of the fallen heroes and wished the dead eternal rest.
