Acting Vice-Chancellor of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, LAUTECH, Ogbomoso, Professor Razaq Olatunde Rom Kalilu, has called on members of the University community to pray for God’s protection during these Ember months.

Professor Rom Kalilu who sadly said the auto crash killed some final year students of the Institution, returning from a trip to Osun state, where they had being part of self organized excursion.

’’The students were from the accounting department of the University and were reported to have traveled in two vehicles’’.

The Vice chancellor while mourning the passing of two of the students and driver of the bus commiserated with their parents, and prayed God grants them the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.

He also prayed for divine healing for those receiving medical attention from the various hospitals.

Twelve people have been killed after a bus carrying Polish tourists veered off a road in Croatia on Saturday.

According to the officials, all 31 surviving passengers were injured, with some fighting for their lives in hospital.

The passengers were all adults and all Polish citizens, the Polish Foreign Ministry told local media.

They were travelling to Medjugorje, a Catholic Shrine in Bosnia, when the accident happened at around 05:40 local time.

The bus veered off the A4 road between Jarek Bisaski and Podvorec, north-east of Zagreb.

It was initially reported that 11 people had been killed. One more person died later in hospital, Croatian Interior Minister Davor Bozinovic said.

“Some of the injured passengers are fighting for their lives,” Mr Bozinovic told reporters.

Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenković expressed his condolences to the families of the victims, adding in a post on Twitter that emergency services were doing all they could to help.

Two Polish ministers are travelling to Croatia in the wake of the incident, local media reported.

The Deputy Governor of Yobe State, Idi Barde Gubana, has lost his daughter, Khadija, in an auto crash.

The accident, which occurred along the Maiduguri-Kano highway on Saturday, June 11, also claimed the life of Gubana’s seven-year-old son, Mai Mala Buni Junior, on the spot.

According to a statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the Deputy Governor, Hussaini Mai Suleh, Khadija who was fondly called Siyama was buried at the Damagum cemetery, Damagum town, Fune Local Government Area of the state on Thursday.

The statement reads in part, “The funeral prayer for the late Khadija (Siyama) the daughter of the state Deputy Governor, His Excellency Hon. Idi Barde Gubana (Wazirin Fune), was held today at the Palace of Mai Fune in Damagum, led by the chief Iman Yobe mosque and Islamic Center Damaturu, Ustas Hudu Mohammad Yusuf, after which the body was laid to rest at Damagum cemetery.“

Late Siyama and other members of her family were involved in a motor accident on Saturday, June 11, 2022, in which her seven-year-old younger brother, Mai Mala Buni Junior, died on the spot, while she was rushed to Dala Orthopaedic Hospital, Kano for treatment on the injuries she sustained during the accident.

As fate would have it she died today, Thursday, and has been buried according to Islamic injunctions.“

Aged 16, late Siyama Idi Barde is survived by her parents, brothers and sisters.”

Nigerian singer, Portable , has taken to social media to thank God for his life after surviving a ‘spiritual attack’ from his perceived enemies.

Portable, who recently sacked his entire music team for allegedly showing him fake love, rammed his Range Rover into a building’s railing on Tuesday night, March 29, 2022.
He took to his  Instagram  story to share videos from the accident scene and attributed the unfortunate incident to an attack by some spiritual forces.

The video shows his car trapped in a garden bed after knocking down the iron gate in front of a house in the neighborhood.

Sharing the video, he thanked God for saving him, as there was no major damage.

He said, and I quote:

“Thank God, modupe nothing spoil, Zazu motor”, he captioned the video.

A pregnant woman and eight others were reported burnt to death in a multiple auto crash in the Ilorin metropolis, the state capital of Kwara state.

Radio Nigeria gathered that, the multiple fatal accident, which occurred at the Ilorin International Airport road on Ilorin-Ogbomoso expressway involved a commercial passenger bus and a private vehicle.

One of the vehicles involved in the crash was said to have carried kegs filled with petrol.

The vehicles involved are Ash colour Toyota Corolla car and a white colour Toyota Hiace commercial bus, whose drivers had no national driver’s licence.

A total number of 20 people which included eight males and 12 females were said to have been involved in the crash.

Confirming the incident, the state sector commander of the FRSC, Jonathan Owoade, said the crash was caused as a result of over speeding.

Five people have been presumed dead while six other persons sustained varying degrees of injuries in accident that occurred along Ago-iwoye –Ibadan route within Arebi Village before Mamu area of Ogun state.

The accident which occurred around four minutes to one in the afternoon involved Opel Safira marked FN73APP and a Mazda Bus with registration number FST877YC.

The Ogun State Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps, Mr Ahmed Umar who confirmed the incident blamed the crash on excessive speed and wrongful overtaking.

Mr Umar said the injured victims had been taken to General hospital Ijebu Ode while the dead were deposited at the same hospital Mortuary. 

The FRSC Ogun state Sector Commander advised motorists be extra careful while driving.

Five persons were killed in an auto crash in Bauchi State on Wednesday, the Federal Road Safety Corps confirmed on Thursday.

The FRSC Sector Commander in the state, Yusuf Abdullahi, said that nine other persons sustained serious injuries in the accident.

He said that the accident occurred in Nabordo community on the Toro-Bauchi Highway when two vehicles had a head-on collision.

Abdullahi said that it took the FRSC barely 26 minutes to arrive at the scene of the crash to clear the site.

He said the registration numbers of the two vehicles were not available, but that they belonged to Gombe Line and Adamawa Sunshine transport companies.

He described the vehicles as a Toyota Hummer Bus and a Toyota Sienna Bus, and attributed the cause of the crash to dangerous driving and speed violations.

Thirteen passengers have been feared dead while twelve others injured in an auto accident which occurred along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

According to reports, the tragic incident involved a commercial bus traveling out of Lagos and a stationary truck at a spot opposite a company producing roofing sheets and pipes.

Traffic officials on the corridor said the driver of the Mazda commercial bus with number plate APP 28 YE had wrongly overtook a vehicle, and lost control in the process rammed into a stationary unregistered Volvo truck loaded with waste which had developed mechanical fault.

Nine passengers were reported to have died on the spot while four others died later at Idera Hospital in Sagamu where they were rushed to after the incident.

The report added that, twelve injured passengers are still receiving treatment in the same hospital while the corpses of the victims had been deposited in the morgue.

The family of the young man, Idris Ajibola, 20, who died in a crash during a vehicle pursuit by Osun Joint Task Force has demanded that the security personnel allegedly involved in the act be brought to justice.

The deceased maternal uncle, Damilare Opadotun, who spoke with journalists during a visit to their Ofatedo residence said the incident was a big tragedy to the family.

Idris, who was the third child of the family, died after the Toyota corolla car conveying the deceased and three other friends from a shopping mall in Osogbo, lost control while being allegedly chased by men of the JTF.

During a visit to the community, around 4pm born-fire were still on while barricades were on the road preventing vehicular movement in and out of the Ido-Osun and Ofatedo.

Angry youths were seen at the different barricades lamenting the manner the security operatives chased the young men because they were suspected to be internet fraudsters.

An Ofatedo resident, Adewale Ifadafe, said the youth blocked roads entering Ofatedo and Ido-Osun early morning, protesting the incident but were surprised when police team arrived and in a bid to dispersed them fired canisters at them.

Meanwhile, his uncle, said the young man was a phone engineer, who just returned from Lagos State on Monday, adding that he would turn 21 on October 10.

Earlier, the State Governor Adegboyega Oyetola in a statement issued by the Commissioner for Information and Civic Orientation Mrs Funke Egbemode ordered immediate investigation into the circumstances behind the death.

“The tragic events that reportedly led to the death of one person on Tuesday evening was both sad and shocking and Governor Adegboyega Oyetola has ordered a full investigation into the circumstances that led to the incidence.

Also, the State Police Commissioner, Undie Adie at a press conference called for calm, saying police had set up an independent investigation to unravel the tragic event.

He said it was not yet clear who was involved in the incident but assured the public that the personnel’s identity would be unraveled.

A Toyota Hiace bus with Registration number KSF 272 YN heading to Lagos from Ilorin crashed killing two passengers and injuring nine others.

The fatal accident occurred opposite New Makun area of the Lagos expressway.

According to a statement from the Ogun state Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency, some of the injured had been taken to a nearby hospital while others presumed dead were taken to the Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital at Sagamu by officers of the Federal Road Safety Corp.

According to the statement, witness account said the commercial bus was in high speed, it experienced a punctured tyre after which it lost control and somersaulted.

Among the injured victims was the driver of the vehicle.
