Arapaja, Oyero, Others, Eulogise Akinjide

Notable Nigerians have continued to pay their condolences to the family of Chief Richard Akinjide at his Idi Ishin, Ibadan residence. 

Former deputy governor of Oyo State, Ambassador Taofeek Arapaja after signing a condolence register described Chief Akinjide as a son of the soil and epitome of success who had laid a good foundation in political process.

Ambassador Arapaja said though Chief Akinjide will be missed for his tutelage in both legal and political arena, but he had come, seen and conquered in life. 

Also speaking, Special Adviser to Governor Seyi Makinde on Tourism, Chief Ademola Ige described the late icon as his political father and mentor that not be forgotten in the history of the country. 

Another caller at the Idi-Ishin residence of the former minister is a lawyer and lawmaker in the 8th Oyo State House of assembly, Mr Fatai Adesina who said the death of the former minister of Justice is a colossal loss in the legal profession, expressing hope that the younger generation will study his life and emulate his virtues.

Former president, Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes, CCII, Chief Bayo Oyero also recalled Chief Akinjide’s political electioneering in 1959 and said he had used his goodwill to sponsor indigent Ibadan students abroad in those days.

Social Distancing: Akinjide’s Residence Receive Few Condolence Visits

The rock residence of late Chief Richard Akinjide in Idi-Ishin, Ibadan continue to host very few guests from political supporters of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP and family members of the late icon to pay their condolences. 

Our correspondent reports that many of the guests who came in twos after thorough precautionary check against covid19 at the entrance, expressed their condolences in the register opened at the black and white painted house of Chief Akinjide. 

It was also observed that few minutes after signing the condolence register, guests leave the residence which had helped the environment to remain calm.  

In a condolence register, the Chief Imam of Ona Ara, Alhaji Ahmed Muritala said Chief Akinjide had contributed his part in life and prayed that his soul rest in peace.

Oyo State Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde has described the demise of former Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Chief Richard Akinjide (SAN), as the end of an era and a huge loss to Oyo State, the legal profession, Nigeria and indeed, the world at large.

Governor Makinde, who also described the demise as the loss of a gem and a shining light, said that he was saddened by the death of the foremost legal luminary.

In a condolence message through his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Taiwo Adisa, the governor described late chief Akinjide as a legal luminary who served his state and the country to the best of his ability.

He maintained that the former minister’s death came at a period that his wealth of experience and robust versatility in history, politics and law was needed to offer direction to the current generation of Nigerian leaders.

The Oyo State helmsman said the late Akinjide before his demise had continued to lead intelligent and history-laden conversations, offered golden advice on governance and leadership and remained a great pillar of experience in politics and law.

Governor Makinde commiserated with Oloye Jumoke Akinjide, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the rest of the family, including the deceased’s political children.
