The Founder and Chancellor, Afe Babalola University, Ado-Ekiti  (ABUAD),  Aare Afe Babalola (SAN) has declared that the adoption of 10 principles would end the insecurity currently being experienced in Nigeria.

Aare Babalola stated this while delivering a lecture titled, “Insecurity: Threat to Nigeria’s Democracy: 2023 General Elections in view”, at the 15th Anniversary and Stakeholders’ forum of Radio Nigeria Amuludun FM, Moniya in Ibadan the Oyo State capital.

The legal icon who was represented by a lawyer from his chambers, Barrister Chukwudi Maduka highlighted some of the 10 principles including true federalism, constitutional restructuring, making politics unattractive, the introduction of a 6-year single term for the office of President and Governors, reform of the Electoral Body, clear ideology of political parties, population control among others as part of ways to end insecurity in Nigeria.

Aare Babalola commended the management of Radio Nigeria, Amuludun FM for organizing the event, stressing that he is committed to a peaceful, stable and secure Nigeria.

In a remark, the Chairman of the occasion and Chief Executive, Foreign Links Institute, Dr Fola Akinosun advocated the introduction of regional government to enable Nigerians to enjoy dividends of democracy, especially at the grassroots.

Dr Akinosun, who agitated for the establishment of state police, said it would make it easy to reduce insecurity, banditry and all forms of criminal acts currently rampant in the country.

Earlier in a welcome address, the Zonal Director, Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, FRCN, Ibadan Zonal Station, Mr Dominic Mokikan commended the efforts of the management of Amuludun FM for organising the programme during this crucial period.

Mr Mokikan pledged his support for the station to enhance the promotion of indigenous languages and culture at the grassroots.

The General Manager, Amuludun FM, Mr Steve Agbaje expressed gratitude to God and all the guests for gracing the occasion, saying the station would not rest on its oars towards fulfilling the motive of its establishment.

Highlights of the event include the presentation of awards to dignitaries like the Senatorial Candidate of Oyo Central from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Bisi Ilaka, General Overseer, Power Apostolic Church International, Prophet Samuel Abiodun among others.

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC in Oyo state, Dr Fola Akinosun has described the sudden death of former governor Christopher Alao Akala as a personal loss and a big blow to the APC, Ogbomoso land, Oyo state and the country as a whole.

He said it was difficult for him to get over the news of the demise of the iconic leader, saying it was shocking and sounds unbelievable and impossible.

Dr Akinosun who was reacting to the death of the former governor said Otunba Alao Akala was a great man, an asset, a man that lived his entire life serving humanity.

The Agbaakin of Iroko said former governor Alao-Akala served humanity till death, having served as a successful police officer, local government chairman, deputy governor, Governor of Oyo state, chairman, APC Reconciliation Committee and Elders Advisory Council in Oyo state.

Dr Akinosun said the Ogbomoso-born politician was a generous and kindhearted man who loved others and always show readiness to share his resources with the people around him.

Akinosun who likened governor Christopher Alao-Akala’s ideology to that of APC national leader, Asiwaju Ahmed Tinubu in raising people, said Alao-Akala has made men in key positions; politics, government, business and in all sectors, especially indigenes of Ogbomoso land.

The educationist and politician prayed to God to receive the soul of former governor Alao-Akala into His bosom.
