Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke says he is ready to partner with the Federal Housing Authority to fulfil President Bola Tinubu’s Housing Agenda.

The governor stated this while hosting the management team of the Federal Housing Authority, at the Government House, Oke-Fia in Osogbo.

Governor Adeleke who commended President Bola Tinubu for his renewed hope plan for the housing sector, stressed that he believed the President has the right team to make his plan a reality.

He noted that his government has demonstrated willingness to support the efforts of President Tinubu to pilot the country out of the current socio-economic crisis.

“A federation is composed of federating units. All units join hands for the collective delivery of good governance. When Mr President was the Governor of Lagos state, he demonstrated how subnational entities can break new ground for the good of their people. Now as the President of the Republic, he relates with the state Governors with open, supportive hands. It is clear that Mr President wants all federating units to join hands and cooperate for successful governance”, the governor said.

Governor Adeleke, therefore, urged the management to continue to place national interest above any political interest, stressing that there are several political parties in Nigeria, but the bottom line is for them to record governance successes for the people.

Earlier, the MD/CEO, Federal Housing Authority, Mr Oyetunde Ojo had told the governor that the team is on a nationwide consultative tour directed by President Tinubu on his Renewed Hope agenda to build affordable houses for  Nigerians.

Mr Ojo said the team came intending to partner with the state government and to request land for the construction of the Federal Housing Estate in Osun in line with the federal government’s plans to build affordable houses which all classes of citizens would be able to benefit from.

The Federal Housing Authority (FHA) is to introduce a scheme that allows relatives of an individual to continue payment for a mortgage in case of default.

The Managing Director of FHA, Senator Gbenga Ashafa made this known while briefing newsmen in Abuja at the second-day celebration of the Authority’s 50th anniversary.

Senator Ashafa explained that the initiative was by the president of the nation, Bola Ahmed Tinubu to enable average Nigerians access to quality and affordable houses through soft payment of Mortgages that could be extended over a period that enables relatives to benefit from the programme.

He maintained that the Authority was in collaboration with state governments for the construction of houses which would also be delivered to Nigerians through the Rent to Own Model.

Senator Ashafa expressed gratitude to the Niger State Government for offering a hundred hectares of land for the development of housing units.

“Most of the state governments have seen the need to give us parcels of land not outside of the metropolis where after building them it would be very difficult to accept. Rather, they are giving us parcels of land within the area not too far away from the city centres,” he said.

The Managing Director noted that part of the activities to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Authority was to bring stakeholders together to discuss challenges and solutions to the nation’s housing sector.

A former Managing Director of the Authority, Brigadier General Tunde Reis stressed for strict implementation of the Social Housing Strategy to enable the Federal Housing Authority to deliver its mandate effectively.

A Keynote Speaker, Mr Akeem Oguniran congratulated the Federal Housing Authority for its achievements in the last fifty years and emphasized the need for government at all levels and other stakeholders to ensure strict regulation of the housing sector to check fraud by fake estate developers.

He said regulations provide the platform for the growth of the sector.

Mr Oguniran noted that some of the challenges caused by non-compliance with regulations include frequent building collapses across the country.
