Oyo State Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde has assured indigenes of Eruwa and Ibarapaland in general that his administration would ensure the completion of the Eleyele- Ido- Eruwa road within the next 11 months. 

Governor Makinde gave the assurance at the coronation of the new  Eleruwa of Eruwa, Oba Samuel  Adegbola held at the Eleruwa Stadium, Sango, Eruwa.

Governor Makinde while responding, pledged that the state government would redouble its efforts towards ensuring the road project is completed as promised, also emphasized the economic importance of the road to the zone in boosting agricultural activities in the area and the state in general. 

He also disclosed that documentation for the agriculture transformation hub has been concluded assuring that  activities would soon commence on the project.

Oba Adegbola earlier in his acceptance speech appealed to the state governor for the quick completion of the road project and the take off of the Agric hub in Eruwa.  

While recounting the struggles that led to the re-election of the monarch as the Eleruwa of Eruwa following the dethronement in 2019, Governor Makinde expressed joy that the tussle surrounding the traditional stool has  now become a thing of the past.

The recoronated Eleruwa, Oba Adegbola commended  Governor Seyi Makinde for his fairness, steadfastness and courage in upholding the royal tradition, legal and all legitimate administrative processes that followed his appointment as the new Eleruwa of Eruwa. 

 He pledged to lead with wisdom and compassion and work for the peace, progress, and development of all Eruwa people 

In an interview, the Speaker, Oyo State House of Assembly,  Adebo Ogundoyin appealed to every stakeholder to cooperate with the monarch in moving the town forward. 

Earlier , the  Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters,  Ademola Ojo, appreciated the state governor, Seyi Makinde for his support in making the occasion a reality, praying that the reign of Oba Adegbola be marked by peace, progress and unity .

In his first coming, Oba Samuel Adegbola was installed the Eleruwa of Eruwa through Laribikusi Ruling House on July 16, 1998  and reigned till 2019.

Dignitaries in attendance at the ceremony include; Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Abimbola Owoade, Soun of Ogbomoso, Oba Laoye Ghandi,  representative of OIubadan ofIbadanland , Aseyin of Iseyinland, Oba Shefiu Oyebola, other traditional rulers in the state , religious leaders, political office holders and top government functionaries among others.

Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki is being screened today by the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Screening Committee to participate in the Edo State PDP primary election scheduled for June 25, 2020.

Governor Obaseki recently defected from the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, following his disqualification from the APC governorship primary in Edo State.

Ekiti State Governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi has ordered the immediate closure of markets and shops who are not selling essential commodities with effect from 5 pm tomorrow the 26th of March 2020

This according to the governor is part of measures to curtail the spread of the coronavirus (Covid-19) in the state by ensuring that citizens observe the social distancing practice..

The governor in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Yinka Oyebode ,however, directed that market women selling essential commodities such as foodstuffs, and those with medicines, medical equipment and water should retain their services for the people..

The governor directed all medicine stores not to sell or display any other items, while those selling foodstuffs should not display anything outside their products.

Similarly, the governor has also appealed to commercial drivers and the leadership of NURTW and RTEAN in the state to reduce the outrageous fares being charged commuters.

He urged residents of the state to join hands with government to check the spread of the virus in Ekiti.

The Ekiti State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Amba Asuquo has confirmed the arrest of two students of the Federal University Oye Ekiti, FUOYE, in connection with the last Tuesday’s violent protest and attack on the convoy of wife of the Governor, Erelu Bisi Fayemi.

Mr. Asuquo made this known while addressing newsmen in Ado Ekiti.

The Commissioner of Police said two officers who sustained injuries during the protest were receiving treatment at the hospital.

He also announced the recovery of two rifles snatched by the students from the officers.

Radio Nigeria correspondent report that normalcy has since returned to Oye Ekiti after the closure of FUOYE by the management.
