Osun State Government has reiterated its commitment to executing and formulating Policies aimed at making lives better for Residents.

The State Governor, Adegboyega Oyetola gave the assurance at the official inaugurations of completed Micro Projects in Iwo and Olaoluwa Local Governments.

The Governor who was represented by the State Commissioner for Rural and Community Affairs, Mr Segun Olanibi, explained that the projects mark another milestone in the quest of the present administration to build a vibrant State where social infrastructures are within the reach of every citizen of the State.

He lauded the support of Osun Cares, Osun Community Society Development Agency, CSDA and World Bank for their intervention in the success of the projects. 

In an address, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Rural Development and Community Affairs, Engineer Mumini Olabamiji urged stakeholders and members of the beneficiary communities to utilize the projects efficiently. 

While speaking, the General Manager, Osun CSDA, Mrs Funmi Abokede said the new blocks of classrooms were meant to complement the existing ones and the motorized boreholes would afford the rural dwellers access to clean water needed for a healthy lifestyle. 

In a remark, the Caretaker Chairman of Olaoluwa Local Government, Engineer Oyediran Amobi described the projects as remarkable ones which would further cushion the effects on the People of the Communities.

Two representatives of the Beneficiary Communities, Chief Emmanuel Oyewole and Retired Major  Asinmiyu Makanjuola pledged their continuous support for the present administration and gave the assurance that the facilities would be properly utilized. 

The Micro Projects inaugurated included a block of two classrooms at Elemo, Hand pump Borehole, Idi Araba, a block of two classroom , Oguro, Hand pump Borehole Monlaafia, motorized borehole Ajagba and a block of three classrooms in Elepo all in Iwo and Olaoluwa Local Governments Areas of the State.

Osun State Governor and the candidate of the All Progressive Congress in the July 16 Osun Governorship Election, Mr Adegboyega Oyetola has appealed to members of the party to be united.

Governor Oyetola made the appeal at a meeting with supporters and aggrieved members of the party following the infighting and apportioning of blame by members and supporters of the party over the defeat the party suffered in the just concluded governorship election in the state.

Party leaders, chieftains, members and supporters had been at loggerhead over the outcome of the poll.

Some dissatisfied members had blamed some notable chieftains of the party who are close to Governor Oyetola for causing the party’s defeat while others had been raining curses on those perceived to have worked against the success of the party.

The governor, who urged the party faithful to desist from public display of annoyance, charged APC members and supporters not to allow the outcome of the election to further cause division within the party, stressing that the APC remained the ruling party in the state.

Addressing the party men and women at the Government House, Osogbo, Governor Oyetola called for peace and unity at every stratum of the party.

He further advised party members, who had grievances, to channel them to the appropriate quarters and stop expressing them publicly, in the interest of the party.

As the incumbent state governor, Mr Oyetola stated that he would continue to govern with fear of God and love of the people, just as he reiterated his commitment to the well-being of the people and the development of the state.

Less than 10 days to Osun Governorship election, the campaign train of Governor Adegboyega Oyetola has visited Orolu and Irepodun local governments to solicit for votes.

During the visit, Governor Oyetola met with traditional rulers in the area to solicit their support on his re-election strive.

The governor and his campaign entourage paid a visit to Hausa Community in Ifon where he met the Hausa leaders led by Alhaji Suleiman Sabo and their people on his re election ambition.

Addressing his supporters at Ifon market square, Governor Oyetola assured that they would benefit from his wealth of administrative experience if reelected as governor.

He said he had taken note of their needs including road and potable water.

In their remarks, the Director General Oyetola Campaign council senator Ajibola Bashiru and APC chairman in the state, Prince Gboyega Famodun urged their supporters to monitor their votes and ensure it was done according to INEC laid down procedure.

Ahead of July 16 Osun Governiship election, the state Governor, Mr Adegboyega Oyetola has warned residents not to be instrumental to electoral violence.

Governor Oyetola who gave the warning while addressing his teeming supporters in Ilesa said, whoever is caught would face the wrath of the law.

He urged those who are yet to collect their PVC to do so in order to be able to vote during the election.

Governnor Oyetola was accompanied to the campaign rally by APC national secretary, Senator Iyiola Omisore and the leadership of the APC campaign council for Osun Election led by Governnor Babjide Sanwo-Olu and kano state Governor, Abdulahi Ganduje.

Osun State Governor, Mr Adegboyega Oyetola has appealed to journalists in the state to be guided by need for peace, tranquility and progress of the state.
Addressing Head of media organizations in the state during  breaking of fast (Iftar) at the government house in Osogbo, the Governor commended them for the support for his administration so far.
Mr Oyetola also lauded the media professionals for being consciencious in their news reportage and programmes, saying if they have heat up the polity, the peace being enjoyed would have been impossible.
He noted that  with incoming electioneering, the state was entering a very sensitive period where the media would be required to be more professional.
The Governor charged journalists not to hesitate to draw the attention of the government to areas where more efforts were required.
The event was attended by all heads of media organizations domiciled in Osun State, including the General Manager of Gold FM, Mr Adedamola Tinubu.

Members of the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, have been charged to live up to the dream of the founding fathers of the scheme by fostering unity, enhancing national integration and providing socio-economic development across the nation.

This charge was contained in the farewell address delivered by the governor of Osun state, Mr Adegboyega Oyetola at the passing out ceremony of the 2021 Batch A Stream II corps members deployed to Osun state at the NYSC permanent orientation camp, Ede.

The Governor who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Prince Wole Oyebanji praised the NYSC members for their services to their host communities which he noted had again served as a testimonial to the worthy cause of the scheme.

In his words, “I have no doubt that the NYSC scheme has awakened us to the capabilities of our youths in the onerous task of nation-building. The various contributions of the corps members passing out today would remain monumental to the nation’s greatness.

While appreciating the passed out NYSC members of their immense contributions in the various communities, Oyetola revealed that there was no community in the state where their presence was not felt.

The Osun governor charged the outgone corps members to be employers of labour rather than job seekers.

The governor also urged them use the digital space to their advantage and that of humanity adding that they should be tech-savvy entrepreneurs who is committed to continuous development, learning effective communication and problem-solving.

Meanwhile, the Osun NYSC State Coordinator, Mrs Winifred Shokpeka disclosed that 1,051 males and 1,243 females, making a total of 2294 corps members who had served meritoriously in the state were passing out.

Mrs Shokpeka said 11 absconders and 16 corps members had their services extended for contravening the Bye-laws guiding the one-year mandatory service.

The Osun NYSC State Coordinator charged them to inculcate the tradition of discipline, hard work and self-reliance that they have learnt as there was no shortcut on the road to success.

Osun state governor and APC candidate in the July 16 Governorship election Mr Adegboyega Oyetola wants contestants across party lines to be peaceful ahead and during the election.

Governor Oyetola stated this in his acceptance speech after he was declared winner of yesterday APC Governorship Primary election in the state.

He urged all contestants in Osun Governorship hip election to pursue their ambitions with utmost decency and not jeopardize the peace and tranquillity the State is noted for.

The governor who described his victory in the primary election as victory for party members who trooped out during his strategic tour across the state said his emergence connotes joint resolution to continue to redefine governance and ref entrench sustainable democracy.

“To all our citizens, we thank you for standing by us in the journey of these three years plus. I promise not to let you down in the years ahead.

As we commence the electioneering campaigns, I urge all contestants across party lines to perform this exercise with utmost decency and not jeopardize the peace and tranquillity our State is noted for. “This is the least our people deserve and the beauty democracy requires.”

It would be recalled that Governor Oyetola polled 222,169 to emerge as APC Governorship candidate on Saturday .

His closest rival, former Secretary to the state government Alhaji Moshood Adeoti scored 12,921 while a former Deputy Speaker, House of Representatives, Mr Lasun Yusuf polled 460 votes.

With few days to the All Progressives Congress governorship primary election in Osun State, the state governor, Mr Gboyega Oyetola has warned members of the party not to sell their membership cards.

Governor Oyetola gave the warning in Iperindo, Osu and Ilesa while addressing party members in Ijesa south federal constituency during his strategic engagement tour to the area.

Welcomed by thousands of members, the Governor sought their support in the primary election, saying the power to cling to the second term ticket lies with members.

The Governor welcomed some members of other parties who defected to APC and appealed to all aggrieved members to embrace peace saying, everyone will benefit from the party.

During his visits to the Owa Obokun of Ijesaland, Oba Gabriel Adekunle Aromolaran, Governor Oyetola was asked by the paramount ruler on the possibility of establishing Ijesa University and which the governor said would be possible.

At the palace of Olosu of Osu, the monarchs in Atakumosa west local government appealed to the Governor to help rejuvenate all the farmlands that had been destroyed by activities of gold miners.

Reforms in the Osun state education is aimed at setting the right direction for education in line with the desires and aspirations of the people, including the restoration of the 6-3-3-4 system.

The state Governor, Mr Adegboyega Oyetola stated this in Ilesa at the inauguration of the newly-renovated block of six classrooms in Ilesa Grammar School, Ilesa.

Governnor Oyetola who said the reforms were not targeted at anyone noted they were in conformity with the national education policy and and to set the right direction for education in line with the desires and aspirations of the people.

He stressed that education remains the backbone of his Administration’s Development Agenda, hence the prompt intervention that had ensured the provision of quality, affordable, equitable and functional education across all the sectors of the State.

The governor added that his Administration’s policies and programmes were driven by citizens’ needs and demands saying, ” I am happy to report here today that we have harkened to your voice of reason and the old things have all passed away.

Governor Oyetola called on well-meaning citizens, particularly old students of various public schools across the State, to imbibe the culture of giving back to the society as part of their corporate social responsibility and community service.

“Rest assured that our government is ready to partner with groups or organizations to boost all-round development of our State.”

While applauding members of the 1966-1970 students of Ilesa Grammar School for giving back to their alma mater, Governor Oyetola said the renovation of the classrooms would contribute in no small measure to the quality of teaching and learning in the school.

Earlier in her remarks, the Chairman, 1966-1970 set of Ilesa Grammar School Old Students Association, Alhaja Nusirat Bakare, lauded Governor Oyetola for allowing reason to prevail and for restoring the glory, grace, honour and foremost position of Ilesa Grammar School in the annals of education in the State.

“It is on record that we challenged the change of the name of the school by the previous administration in court.

There was strained relationship between the then government, under Governor Rauf Aregbesola, and Ilesa Grammar School. To the glory of God, the coming to power of the Administration of Governor Adegboyega Oyetola, changed the story for good.

Osun state governnor, Mr Adegboyega Oyetola has submitted his governorship nomination form to the All Progressives Congress, APC, national secretariat, Abuja

Governor Oyetola was accompanied to the party secretariat, on Thursday evening by his wife, Kafayat, his son Femi and hundreds of party supporters and leaders including the Osun state party chairman, Prince Gboyega Famodun, speaker Osun state House of Assembly Mr Timothy Owoeye.

Others are Senate’s spokesman, Senator Ajibola Bashir and senator representing Osun Central and the Senior Special Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on National Assembly Matters (Senate), Sen. Jide Omoworare among others.

It would be recalled that the APC chairman in Osun state, Prince Gboyega Famodun had last week Monday presented the nomination form to governnor Oyetola at government house osogbo.

He informed that the form was bought by friends of the governor adding that party leaders in the state had agreed that Governor Oyetola should contest for another term in Office.

Osun State government has commenced emergency rehabilitation of 200 kilometres of roads across the state. 

The state government conducted newsmen round the roads which is divided into five zones, covering the nine federal constituencies of the State

The rehabilitation project which is being carried out by the Osun State Road Maintenance Agency covers twenty-five major roads across various local governments.

Speaking during the tour, Special Adviser to the Governor on Works and Transport, Mr Toke Olaniyan explained that, Governor Adegboyega Oyetola approved rehabilitation of over 25 roads across the state to improve socio-economic activities and also improve vehicular movements in the state, notwithstanding their status as federal or state roads.

Mr Olaniyan said the people could not be suffering poor road network while the government looked away under the guise of federal road.

He said the project had been divided into five zones including Ikirun/Ila, Iwo/Ejigbo, Ife/Ijesha, Osogbo/Ede and Gbongan/Ikire to ensure ease of coordination.

“The Agency is presently working in 5 zones including Ife zone; Ipetumodu-Ode-omu road with a length of 5-83km, linking Ife North and Ayodnade Local Government Areas Ayetoro Street in Ifetedo, Ife-South Local Government with a length of 0.85km”.

“Ilesa Zone; (1) Wesley-Guild Hospital/ Oke-from road in Ilesa East Local Government Area with a length of 0.748km, school of Health Technology junction, Ilesa/Orogboji/Ayegbaju/ Iwikum/lyinta/twara/Ifewara road, linking ILesa East and Atakumosa West) covering a length of 8.0km, Ita-Akogun /Ita-Ofa/General Hospital road, Ilesa, in Ilesa West Local Government”

 (ii) Odo-Ori/Adeke road in Iwo Local Government Area with a length of 5.460km. OSADEP Junction (Aawe/Oyo road) / Bowen University. Iwo Local Government Area, covering a length of 4.300km

(iii) Gbongan lleogbo /Iwo road linking Ayedaade/Ayedire and Iwo Local

Government Areas, covering a length of 24.260km

(iv) Ogbaagba/Ikire-Ile/Ajagunlase road in Olaoluwa Local Government Area with a length of 18.okm.”

The Special Adviser added that the road rehabilitation programme would cost the state about one billion naira.

Similarly, the General Manager of the Osun Road Maintenance Agency, Mr Ogunsola Ajao assured that the work would be completed before the rainy season.

Mr Ajao explained that one of the roads was a federal government project that has before for seventeen years.

Radio Nigeria spoke with some users of the roads including commercial drivers and market women.

One of them, a resident of Iwo, Mrs Tawakalitu Azeez who commended government intervention said the road was a nightmare both during raining and drying season.

Also, a commercial driver, Mr Remi Ibrahim appealed to the government to extend the Iwo road project to Gbongan so that traders from Iwo to Gbongan would be saved the trouble of long distance to Iwo through another route.

Members of the National Reconciliation Committee of the All Progressives Congress, APC, have paid a courtesy visit to Osun state Governor, Alhaji Adegboyega oyetola as the committee arrives Osun to reconcile aggrieved members of the party.

Speaking at the government house, osogbo, venue of the visit ,chairman of the Committee, a former Governor of Nasarawa State, Sen. Abdulahi Adamu, disclosed the committee’s readiness to ensure fair hearing, equity and justice.

He said members of the party had come to attend to palpable contentious matters, treat petitions and elicit responses after which their report would be made in line with the directive of the authority of the party at the national level.

” We want to thank Mr. Governor for personally being available to receive us. We are the committee appointed and inaugurated sometimes in November last year to serve as members of the reconciliatory committee on issues that border on relationship and institutional matters.

“We have done much on the northern states and we started that of Southwest on Thursday in Lagos. Yesterday, we were in Ogun State, and today, we are in Osogbo, the Osun State capital city.

While responding, Governor Adegboyega Oyetola assured the Committee of his Administration’s absolute cooperation and support to carry out the exercise.

He expressed confidence in the composition and ability of the members of the Committee to dispense justice and ensure fair play throughout the exercise.

“I appreciate this visit and I thank you most sincerely for taking the trouble to come to us. No organization without issues, but what is important is to find possible way of reconciliation.

“We will give you all the support, you will have the maximum cooperation expected of us. I welcome the idea of accepting petitions and finding solutions to all contentious issues.

It would be recalled that there are factions within members of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the state.

While a group is loyal to the incumbent Governor, Alhaji Adegboyega Oyetola , the other group called The Osun Progressive, TOP, is loyal to the immediate past governor of the state who is now the minister of interior, Alhaji Rauf Aregbesola.

For greater achievements in his administration this year, a cleric has underscored the need for Osun state Governor, Adegboyega Oyetola to reconcile aggrieved fractions in the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the state and ensure unity among members of his cabinet tremendous progress and achievements and achieve more.

The Arch Bishop of Ilesa Archdiocese, The Methodist Church of Nigeria, Most Reverend Amos Akindeko stated this during an annual prayer visit to the governor at the government house, Osogbo.

Most Reverend Akindeko who said God showed him in a vision, a spider, with eight legs walking towards different directions without progress, appealed to the governor to endeavour to reach out to the grassroots for meaningful development.

Earlier in a sermon, The Rt. Reverend Timothy Olatunji who said the Lord will do new things for the state and fulfil His promises stressed the need for all to be diligent, walk with God and be guided by fear of God.

In a.remark, Governor Oyetola appreciated the call for more United forces, saying the door for reconciliation is widely open.

The Governor ascribed his administration’s achievements to the efficacy of prayer and hoped in God that this year’s Governorship election in the state would be peaceful.

Osun state Governor, Alhaji Adegboyega Oyetola has appointed 10 board chairmen and their board members under some state Ministries, agencies and parastatals.

This is contained in a statement signed by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Mr Ismail Omipidan.

Among those who made the list are: Former Health minister, Issac Adewole Uniosun Teaching Hospital Board, Elder Kunle Odeyemi, APC leader in Ijesa zone Osun COE, Ilesa, former Osun Deputy Speaker, Akintunde Adegboye College of Technology, Esa Oke, foremost lawyer and former Governorship aspirant in the State, Saka Layonu, SAN Osun Polytechnic, Iree and another former Deputy Speaker, Taiwo Sunmonu Teaching Service Board.

Other appointees are: former state lawmaker, Hon. Abiodun Awolola House of Assembly Service Commission, Mr. George Adedeji Local Government Service Commission, Mr. Femi Osunro Civil Service Commission, George Olayinka Owolabi COE, Ila and Bisi Odewumi School of Health Technology, Ilesa.

The statement indicates that the appointments, which take immediate effect, are informed by the strong need to provide the necessary Governance and oversight structure for Government Agencies and Parastatals.

It adds that the remaining boards appointments will be made soon.

Mothers have been urged to create sufficient time to see what their children are doing as their future in terms of peace and gratitude to God is based on the amount of investment made in the life of thier children. 

The Osun State Governor, Mr Adegboyega Oyetola made the call at the end of the year Children’s party organised the office of the Governor’s wife held at the Government House, Oshogbo.

Governor Oyetola noted that the challenges of economic survival will always take parent’s said parental guidance are important particularly at the early stage of a child’s life.

In her address, the wife of the Governor, Mrs Kafayat Oyetola urge mothers to continue the roles of nurturing and giving directions to the children to become good citizens with high civic responsibilities. 

Mrs Oyetola called for collaboration in fighting against child abuse, violence against children, trafficking and female genital mutilation/cutting, rape and other forms of violence against persons.

She advised the children to continue to improve on your education urging them to shun every form of behavior which will deter them from being responsible citizens.

Earlier in an address of welcome, the Commissioner for Women and Children Affairs, Mrs Olubukola Olaboopo noted that government prioritize issues concerning children in the state, hence, the signing into law the Bill that provide Child Right.

Osun State Governor, Mr Gboyega Oyetola, has said that his administration would continue to give priority to the development of the rural communities for social and economic reasons.

Mr Oyetola, who noted that the rural dwellers had equal rights to basic amenities as people in the urban areas, said his administration was committed to sustainable economic development at the grassroots to discourage rural-urban migration.

The Governor made the remarks during an engagement programme organised by the State’s Civic Engagement Programme in Isinmi Olootu village of Ifedayo Local Government.

Represented by his Special Adviser on Civic Engagement, Mr Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, the Governor said his administration had been engaging all social strata and stakeholders in all rural communities to clearly find a way of improving amenities available to them and also to improve their living standards.

He explained that it was such consciousness that influenced the rehabilitation of one health centre per ward, with particular focus on those in rural areas, while schools in such environments and other amenities would be given a facelift. 

In a remark, the Baale of Oyi Elemogun, Chief Adeyinka Adesina commended the governor for his commitment to the development of the state in the area of education, health, infrastructure, Agriculture, mining among others.

Chief Adesina said that the visit was the first time a Governor’s representative would embark on “one on one” engagement in the area asking for their various need, since the creation of Osun, as a border town to Kwara state far away from the state capital.

The Community leader who noted that rural areas suffered neglect in government programmes, appealed to the Governor to provide them with more rural roads, electricity,  borehole and other social amenities. 

Also speaking, the Chairmen of Local councils in the area, Messrs Azeez Olarewaju, Funnmilayo Olaseinde, Kunle Ayantoye eulogized the governor for his commitment to human development and capacity building by empowering nothing less than 18,000 youths through various schemes, as well as execution of several social intervention programs for the socially vulnerable.

Traditional worshippers in Oyo State have commended the governor of Osun State, Gboyega Oyetola for declaring a work-free day for the celebration of the World Isese Day in the State.

A statement signed by the Chairman, Traditional Worshippers Association, Oyo State Chapter, Mr Adefabi Dasola Fadiran and the State Secretary, Dr.Fakayode Fayemi Fatunde  in Ibadan notes that the governor has shown enough boldness in supporting the Yoruba heritage. 

The 2021 Isese Day Festival is celebrated all over the World on the 20th of August in every year, by traditional worshippers.

The body attributed the peaceful atmosphere in Osun State to the governor’s respect to all religious tenets and beliefs in the State, which made residents co-habitate peacefully. 

The association called on its members in Oyo State to celebrate the 2021 Isese Festival without any conflict in their shrines and temples and pray for peace in Nigeria, Oyo State and their different communities.

Governor Adegboyega Oyetola of Osun State says his administration has not borrowed a kobo to execute different developmental projects ongoing in the state.


Governor Oyetola stated this while hosting journalists at his residence in his hometown, Iragbiji the headquarters of Boripe Local Government Area of Osun State. 


He explained that rather than taking the option of borrowing,he had been creative to adopt the Alternative Contract Financing Scheme, which enjoined contractors to put their money into projects while the government refund them in installment.


The Governor said, despite paucity of fund in the state, he was committed to the reconstruction and rehabilitation of strategic roads in the state, particularly those connecting communities.


He also spoke on the slow progress of the Amotekun Security network in the state, while he however gave assurance that the security outfit would soon embark on recruitment exercise and take off well.
