Nurses at the Federal Medical Centre, FMC, Idi Aba, Abeokuta have protested against an alleged exclusion from the 2023 promotion exercise carried out in the institution.

The aggrieved workers under the aegis of the National Association of Nigeria Nurses and Midwives, NANNM, protested within the hospital premises with different placards with inscriptions including, “Nurses workload is enough for promotion”, “Stop Selective Promotion” among others.

The nurses also expressed displeasure over what they described as harsh working conditions, asking the management of the hospital to address their promotion arrears, shortage of staff and other rights.

The NANNM Chairman, FMC, Abeokuta Chapter, Comrade Olufunmilayo Adekunle said the protest was to demand for the papers of the promotional examination.

Education

Academic and non-academic staff of the public and private secondary schools in Ogun State have resumed duties.

Radio Nigeria correspondent who monitored the exercise reports that the staff were seen cleaning their offices in preparation of students resumption.

The principal, Patterson Memorial Baptist Grammar School, Idi Aba, Abeokuta, Reverend Adeleye Olusina said the school is well prepared and Covid-19 compliant to receive its SS3 students on Wednesday.

A bursar at Ijemo Titun Junior School at Ibara Housing Estate, Mrs Temitope Ogunsola expressed appreciation to God for sparing their lives till now.
