Thirty six cows were at the weekend struck to death by
mysterious thunderstorm on “Oke Owa” at Ijare Community in Ifedore Local
Government Area of Ondo state.
The herdsmen and their cows were said to have desecrated
sacred parts of the Owa Mountain where sacrifice is made once in a year by the
traditional ruler of the community.
Radio Nigeria gathered that the thunderbolt struck the cows
to death during a rainstorm on Saturday night when they mounted the secluded
place of the mountain while the herdsmen in charge of the cows were said to
have run away.
Confirming the strange incident, the traditional ruler, the
Olujare of Ijare,
Oba Adebamigbe Oluwagbemigun who spoke with journalists at
his palace, said that the place was a secluded place where unqualified people
are not allowed to mount or step on.
A senior chief of Ijare, High Chief Sapetu Wemimo Olaniran,
said the herders came to the palace to report the case to the monarch after the
mysterious incident occurred.
High Chief Olaniran, who is the second in command to the Olujare, described the incident as the act of God which no one could query.
