It was a show of love at Ilaji Hotel and Resorts Center where various tribes in Ibadan, traditional rulers across the Southwest of Nigeria as well as notable sons and daughters of Ibadanland gathered to celebrate the fifth year coronation anniversary of Olubadan of Ibadanland.

The event was organized by Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi who also graced the occasion.

Other dignitaries at the event aprt from the Ooni of Ife, are Eze Ndigbo in Ibadan, Dr. Alex Anozie, Minister of Youth and Sports Mr. Sunday Dare and members of the Olubadan in Council.

The event featured several display of Yoruba culture, cutting of the anniversary cake, and presentation of gifts.

Many of those who spoke with Radio Nigeria including the Chief Executive Officer, Ilaji Hotel and Resorts Center, Chief Dotun Sanusi described the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Saliu Adetunji as a man of peace who worked to ensure unity among various tribes in the city.

At the ceremony, the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, who could not hide his joy over the coronation anniversary ceremony prayed for the Olubadan and continued peace in the Ibadanland.

Speaking on behalf of Olubadan, the Chief Media officer to the monarch, Mr Adeola Oloko who expressed gratitude to the Ooni of Ife for organising the ceremony, said the event was organized to thank God for the peace that reigns in Ibadanland.

Mr. Oloko therefore advised Nigerians to tolerate each other for the progress and development of the country.

Youth and Sports Development Minister Mr Sunday Dare has expresed shock over the death of former Oyo State Governor Senator Abiola Ajimobi who pased away on Thursday at age of 70.

According to Dare, “The passing of my elder brother, Sen. Abiola Ajimobi, is both untimely and tragic. He served the good people of Oyo for so long. We wanted him to use his experience to guide us through trying times. Sadly, dusk came too early and we must bid goodnight. Sun re, Aare of Ibadan!

“My prayers and thoughts are with the family, and the good people of Oyo State. His death is numbling saddening, but we must submit to the will of God who gives life and takes it when he wills.May his soul rest in peace,” Dare concluded.

Ajimobi reportedly died following his admission in a Lagos hospital due to complications from an undisclosed ailment.

He was a two term Governor of Oyo State under the APC. He was named as the Caretaker National Chairman of the ruling APC following the suspension of Adams Oshiomole by the Court of Appeal.

President, Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Honour Sirawo has paid a visit to the newly appointed Minister of Youth and Sports, Mr. Sunday Dare at his office, Federal Secretariat in Abuja.

Sirawoo who was among the first callers to Mr. Dare, a day, after he assumed duty as minister, immediately had a closed-door meeting with the veteran journalist.

Speaking with newsmen shortly after the meeting, Sirawoo stated that ways to develop sports took center stage at the meeting.

He added that SWAN would support the new minister to succeed and record laudable achievements.

Oyo State Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde, has congratulated the new Minister of Youth and Sports, Mr. Sunday Dare on his appointment.

A statement by Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Mr. Taiwo Adisa, says the government of Oyo State will be looking forward to having a symbiotic relationship with the Federal Government through Mr. Dare, who is now an ambassador of the state.

The statement urges Mr. Dare to bring his wealth of experience to bear in transforming and repositioning the ministry.

Governor Makinde urged the Ogbomoso-born minister to be a good ambassador of Oyo State and to showcase the Pacesetter qualities of the state in his new position.

Governor prayed that the minister succeeds in the new assignment and win laurels to the admiration of Nigerians.
