  • FRCN Programmes Department Awards Outstanding Staff Members, Retirees

    It was a joyous moment as Members of Staff of Programmes Department, FRCN, across southwest gathered at the Ibadan Zonal Headquarters, Dugbe to celebrate their end of year party.

    Our correspondent reports that the event was also attended by Committee of Management.

    In a remark, Zonal Director, FRCN, Ibadan Zonal Station, Alhaji Mohammed Bello urged members of staff to be diligent in all they do as there was always reward for good works.

    Deputy Director, Programmes, FRCN, Ibadan, Mrs. Bolatito Joseph said the event was organised as a way of making the staffs unwind after a long period of work.

    Highlight of the programme was presentation of awards to outstanding members of staff across the FM stations in the Sout West as well as selected members in the society and the Zonal Director FRCN, Ibadan.

  • Government needs to fund education more – Emeritus Professor Omolewa

    Speaker at the Seventieth Anniversary Lecture of the Department of Adult Education, University of Ibadan, Emeritus Professor Michael Omolewa has advocated more funding to promote adult education across the country. 

    He made the call while presenting a paper entitled “70 Years of Inspiring Generations for Greater Heights”.

    Emeritus Professor Omolewa who explained that Adult Education was pivotal to national development, noted that many uneducated people in the country did not wish to be uninformed but were victims of uncontrollable situations. 

    While calling on individuals and groups to give back to the society by educating the illiterates so that every potential would be invested in the development process of the country, the don said Adult Education encouraged cross-fertilization of ideas. 

    Chairman on the occasion, Aare Afe Babalola in a message through the Director of Afe Babalola International Study Center, Ibadan, Dr. Adedayo Ajani emphasized that, to achieve quality education delivery, there was the need for government at all levels to adequately fund education, urging other stakeholders to be efficient in the use of resources. 

    In a remark, Head, Department of Adult Education, Professor Rashid Aderinoye maintained that the occasion was an avenue to draw public attention to advantages of Adult Education. 

    On his part the Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu in a massage through the Vice Chancellor, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Professor Eyitope Ogunbodede gave assurance that the present administration would do its all to promote education. 

    The event had in attendance dignitaries from all walks of life including the Zonal Director, Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, FRCN, Ibadan National Station, Alhaji Muhammed Bello.

  • Plaudits as Babatunde Tiamiyu Leaves Radio Nigeria

    Hard work and merit will always be recognized.

    This exactly was the comments of staff, Radio Nigeria Ibadan at special programme held in honour of Babatunde Tiamiyu of the News Department, who resigned this month to pursue his career in broadcasting. 

    Deputy Director News, Pastor Dare Olorunfemi described the event as joyful pain departure of a hard working personnel from the fold of Radio Nigeria. 

    He said Mr. Tiamiyu was a man who could work his fingers to the bone, made himself versatile in his profession, always willing to labour, working in every department in the station.

    In his remark, Zonal Director, Radio Nigeria Ibadan, Alhaji Mohammed Bello, expressed delight at comments made about Mr. Babatunde Tiamiyu, while observing that he would be missed. 

    He assured Tiamiyu that the station’s doors were always open for counsels and professional assistance. 

    Alhaji Mohammed Bello wished him well in his new endeavours. 

    Members of staff who shared their views on Babatunde Tiamiyu, described him as an embodiment of knowledge, dedication, selflessness and encouragement. 

    They described him as a mentor, a humble person despite his enviable achievements. 

    In a remark, the celebrant expressed his gratitude to Radio Nigeria Ibadan for being so honoured, acknowledging the impact of some members of staff while in the service of the station.

    Highlight of the occasion was the presentation of gift to Mr. Babatunde Tiamiyu by the Zonal Director, Alhaji Mohammed Bello and Deputy Director News, Pastor Dare Olorunfemi.
