Ogun State house of Assembly has called for increased advocacy and sponsorship from elected officials and public office holders to enrol more residents of the state in the just-launched State Health Insurance Scheme. 

Speaker of the House, Mr Olakunle Oluomo, who made the call while responding to the appeal of a member representing Yewa North 1 State Constituency, Mr Adegoke Adeyanju, who promised to enrol 112 members of his constituency in the scheme.

The Speaker encouraged other lawmakers and public-spirited individuals to support the less privileged to get enrolled into the health insurance scheme.

He stressed that the step would assist in increasing regulation of people through the payment of their premium to enable them to benefit from the health coverage programme.

Members of the Ogun State House of Assembly, OGHA, have again expressed displeasure over the gruesome killings of innocent residents by officials of the Nigeria Customs Service, NCS, in the border communities of the state. 

The lawmakers including, Mr Adegoke Adeyanju and Mrs Bolanle Ajayi who spoke under personal explanation during plenary In Abeokuta explained that the incessant attack had left the people of the state in fear. 

They called on Governor Dapo Abiodun to as a matter of urgency look into the activities of the men of the NCS especially in the Ogun West Senatorial District of the state. 

In a remark, the OGHA Speaker, Mr Olakunle Oluomo also appealed to all members of the National Assembly from Ogun State as well as representatives of the state in the National Executive Council to collectively rescue residents from the over-zealousness of the customs officers.
